Specification of Lett ers Patent.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, WILLIAM MARIN, a subject of the Czar of.Russia, residing at New York city, in and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to brackets, and particularly to a bracket which is designed especiallyyfor the purpose of supporting like, and it has for its object the provision of a device of this character which may be quickly applied to the wall or like support, and positioned thereon so as to readily receive the flush tank and effectually hold the same in an effective and secured position.
Another object of the invention is the rovision of a supporting bracket for ush tanks which will be designed for the purpose of expeditin the process of alining the tank on the app ication of the same to its support.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a supporting bracket which will operate to secure the tank in an app position without the necessity of materially injuring the tank.
Other objects will appear and be. better understood from that embodiment of my invention of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing formmgpart hereof, in
thatthe bracket conslsts of a metal bar 1,
preferably ofv uniform thiclmess throughout. 2 At ,the extreme upper end the bar is rovided with a substantially key:hole shaped-slot 2 which is adapted to receive a device 3 as shown in Fig. 1. 'At other suitable points in the length of the liar are formed passages 4 which are other or additional fastening devices 5. At the upper end and the county of NewvYork' swung or ad lied. wall, and the I be adjusted it may accommodate tanks of a given size.
described 1n the Patented May 22, 1917.
Application filed September 24, 1915. Serial No. 52,470.
preferably at a point adjacent to the keyhole slot 2 the-bracket is provided with a member 6 or clamping device which is provided with a short angular extension 7 secured by a rivet or the like 8, to the bar 1, and as illustrated, said clamping device is offset at 9 and then extended in a downward direction and in diverging relation to the bar 1 to form a retaining flange 10, the extremity 11 of which being curved outwardly and away the bar 1 is upstruck so as to form a horizontal rest 12 having a passage 13 therein.
In use at least two of the brackets are employed for the purpose of properly. supporting the flush tank. ,The clamping devices 6 may be swung into the dotted line position shown in Fig. 1, and the tank may be-placed onto the horizontally alined rest 12, after which the clamping devices may be again positions so that the ofiset portions 9 thereof come over the upper edge of the back wall of the tank. The flanges 10 will be extended the inner face of said rear convexities of the extremities 11 will be brought into efiective impinging engagement with said wall so as to hold the latter uniformly in close contact with the down against I bar 1. The bottom of the tank, as stated, is
designed to rest upon the alined portions 12 and after the tank has been applied in the manner above stated, permanency in its application may be efi'ected by passing Small fastening devices 14 through the pass cs 13 and into the bottom of the tank.
usted to their normal full line n the form shown in Fig. 3 the bar 1 is provided near its upperend with a slot 15 which receives a clamping bolt 16. This bolt is connected with the extension 7 of the clamping device 6. In this manner. the clamping device, aside'from of slight. rocking mov ments 1s also free to in a vertical direction so that In the form shown in Fig. 4 the bar 1 has its clampin device 6" formed as an integral part oft e bar. It is extended into the bar through an, offset continuation 17 thereof.
In the form shown in Fig. 5 the bar 1- i.
upset upon itself at its upper end so as to form a ange 7 of a clamping device 6, the latter bein otherwise the same as the device p'eviously referred forms of the invention elow the key-hole slot 18 being capable r1ght angle to the rest and adapted to be a rivet 19 is. passed through the bar 1 and through the portion"? as illustrated. In either of the-forms shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the upper edge of the tank may be accommodated by simply canting or tilting the tank at the time of adjusting the same to companion brackets as will be understood.
What is claimed as new is: 7
A bracket for flushing tanks comprising a bar provided with a rigid angular rest to i support the base of the tank, a clamp pivoted at the opposite end 01': the bar ing movement parallel wlth the bar and at a of, said clamp being for swingextended over the rear wall of the tank and provided with a flange adapted tocome against the inner surface of the rear wall so as to hold the-latter in contact with the bar approximately throughout the length there- {adjustable longitudinally of the bar and means for holding the clamp at an adjusted position-on thebar. In testlmony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses WILLIAM MARIN. Witnesses:
