Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 22, 1917.
Original applic'ation filed me 18,119113, Serial n 774,297. Divided and this application filed July 6', 914.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it'known that I, Josnr TANCZEK, merchant, subject of theKing of Hungary, residingat 27 Alkotmany utca, Budapest .V, Hungary, have invented certain new useful Improvements in Hoes for Culti 'ating Machines, of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to hoes for groundcultivator machines such as described in my'application Ser. 18, 1913, of which this applicationis a division, and consists in ahoe, the stem of which is rigid in hoe, but a little elastic in the plane perpendicular to the said plane. I i
The accompanying drawing shows examples of the hoe constructed according to my invention.
Figure 1 is one side view ofa constructional form of the hoe,
Fig. 2 a plan view thereof,
Fig. 3 a side view of a modification and a Fig. i a plan viewthereof.
According to my invention the stem of the hoe is rigid in the direction of the movement of the hoe and has a small elasticity in a direction perpendicular thereto.
as illustrated in Figs. 1A of the drawing, consist of two plates 22'attached to sleeves 9 and having supported The sleeves 9 are 0*) tatable around a bolt 24. Securedtothe outer sides of the plates and are mounted on a shaft 7 of the Ina-e chine, around which the hoe-stems are arranged. The elastic plate 23 0f steel is provided on bothsidesof its outer end with proper hoe-tools 24.
,By making the plate 23 of steel the hoe stem may yield when lateral pressures occur and in this case the hoe-stem can yield within certain limits, without causing deforma tion of the stems of the hoes. The elasticity of the stems of the hoes may be increased by the use of separate flat-springs 29 (Figs.
and 7 No. 774,297, filed June the plane of the movement of. the V In order to clear this bolt,
' will break so that obtained for five cents each,'by addressing the Washington, .D. 0.
Serial N0.849,105. r
l and 2), make the stems somewhat more rigid against ticityrof the stem. In the construct onal formillustrated' in Figs. 3 and 4; plate 23"is provided which has supported between its two parts 'a rotatable circular blade 30. 'The latter has for its object to facilitate the cutting into the ground, which cutting is performed in the constructional or this arrangement may serve to V lateral bending, without destroying theelasa double form above described by the steel-plate By the use of the said circular blade the resistance is lowered. y i
The hoe tools can be fastened to the stem notonly in the illustrated manner but other- Wise also for instance between two steelplates 23 in the same manner as the circular lade 30 which is essentially a cultivatortool also.
the two plates 22, be passed a bolt.
25 designates a bore in through which bore may the pivot 24;: the steel plate 23 is provided with a curved slot 27, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3. 28 is another bore, passing through all the plates 22, 23. Through this bore a bolt made or wood or similar material, is passed, which bolt upon the plate encountering a great resistance in the ground the plate 23 can swing about its pivot 24 as stated.
Claim: V

hoeing elements, a pivot pin connecting the member to the plates, and releasable means normally restraining the member against rotation of the pivot pin.
