My present improvements relate more particularly to an impression device of that type W'l'illCl'l employs a pair of paper gripping rolls that are separated to permit the introduction of one end of a paper sheet between them, and. one of which rolls is then lowered,'carrying the end of the paper sheet with it, into rolling contact with the duplicating band or surface to roll over and impress the paper sheet on the latter, thus constituting a platen roll.
