IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-HOLDERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,068, dated December 19, 1871.

To all. whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, RAPHAEL Moms SELDI's, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Win (low-Sash; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and usethe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which-- Figure 1 represents a face view, partly in section, of my improved window-sash. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same on the line 0 c, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of the same on the line It It, Fig. 1.

My invention pertains to improvements in the class of windowsash holders wherein frictionrollers are employed in connection with corrugated or notched plates applied to the Windowframe. The invention consists in the arrangement of rollers and corrugated metal strips in the window-flame, as hereinafter described.

A in the drawing represents the window-frame, of rectangular form, a a being its sides, b the top, and c the sill or bottom. B and O are the two sashes, sliding in the frame. They are at their sides provided with rubber rollers e e, which. bear against corrugated sheet-metal strips ff, which bear against the window-frame. These strips f I secure to wooden uprights g g, which are, by concealed springs h h, held against the edges of the sashes. These latter will, by the rubber rollers, be sustained in any suitable position and permitted easy vertical adjustment. The springs It will cause the sashes to fit tight against the edges of the frame. The stripsg-g are formed of sheet metal, struck up by suitable dies so as to form the corrugations. They are readily attached to the sash-frame by nails, as shown. I provide the top sashes B and U with rubber weather-strips i and j, respectively, which lit in grooves in the top and bottom pieces b and d of the frame A. The sashes are also separated by a rubber strip, l. The face piece m of the frame is made removable, but held in place by a bolt, n.

I do not claim these last-named parts, nor the combination, broadly, of elastic or other rollers with corrugated metal strips 5 but What I do claim as of my invention is-- The rubber rollers e e, sashes B O, and strips 9 g, of sheet metal, struck up to form corrugations, all arranged and operating as shown and described.
