LINE-SUPPORT.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 2"?, 1917..
Application filed June 20, 1916. Serial No. 104,786.
To all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, TRUMAN R. Lo'rr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Line-Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a line support.
The object of the invention is to provide an adjustable support for clothes lines and the like.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention has particular relation to cer tain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts and use an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein z- Figure 1 is a plan view of the device.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the reverse side from that shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan view on a smaller scale than that shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and
Fig. 4 is an edge view thereof.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the figures, the numerals 1, 1 indicate the side members of the frame which are spaced apart and secured in fixed relation by means of the straps 2, 2, 3, 3, and t, 4: which are secured at their respective ends to said respective members, said straps being arranged in pairs, the members ofthe pairs being secured on opposite sides of said side members thus forming bearings in which the supporting rod 5 slides. The lower end of this rod has the plates 6, 6 secured thereto on opposite sides, said plates projecting beyond said rod at each side and embracing the corresponding side members 1, 1
Copies of this patent may be obtained for forming bearings therefor. rIvhe middle portion of the front strap 3 is formed into a U- shaped bearing 7 in which operates the wedge 8, which tapers downwardly and whose upper end has an inwardly projecting tang 9, arranged to engage with the rod 5, and hold said rod at any desired point on elevation.
The upper end of therod 5 has a U-shape bearing 10 to receive the clothes line 11, and a flexible finger 12 is secured at one end to the upper end of the rod, is arcuate in form and fits over said bearing l0. The other end of this finger is free so that the line may be passed thereunder into said bearing, but which will prevent the disengaging of said line therefrom.
The line is first engaged in the bearing 10 and the rod 5 is then elevated to the desired point and the tang 9 of the wedge 8 engaged therewith and the line is thus held at any desired point of elevation.y
What I claim is A device of the character described including a frame composed of side members spaced apart, a rod slidable lengthwise between said members, bearings carried by the lower end of said rod, which slides on said side members, a bearing carried by the side members, avwedge in said bearing, an inwardly projecting tang carried by said wedge arranged to engage with the rod and holdithe same in fixed position relative to the side members.
In testimonyl whereof Ihave signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
