such as will enable others skilled in the art will automatically follow the direct line of draft.
With these and other objects in view, such as will appear as my description progresses, my invention comprises the combination and arrangement of parts as set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claims.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a device constructed in accordance with myinvention;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof;
Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and
Fig. l is an enlarged detail of one of the wheel supporting castings.
In'the drawing, I have illustrated a portion of a binder which includes a stub tongue 1 which is braced by a suitable brace 2. Extending downwardly from this tongue 1 is a standard 3 which is connected to a main tongue 4 by a ball and socket connection 5. Secured and extending at right angles to the main tongue 4: is a pair of bars 6. Pivotally mounted between the ends of these bars on bolts 7 are castings which include tubular bearing members 8 and wheel spindles 9 on which dust caps 10 are mounted which are adapted to protect the inner sides of the hubs of the wheels. Each of these tubular Specification of Letters Patent.

bearing portionsis provided with a forwardly extending arm 11, the forward ends of which aims are connected together by a rod 12. One ofthe castings is provided with an arm 13 which extends at right angles to the arm 11 and is connected to the stub v tongue 1 by a rod 1ft. "Wheels 15 are mounted on the spindles 9 and are provided with hard grease cups 16 by means of which the spindles may be oiled. The ends of the hubs of these wheels are provided with chambers in which dust caps 17 are mounted and the rims of the wheels are provided with ribs 18 which prevent the skidding of thewheels. Each of the castings before described, is provided. with a hand oiler 19 so that the movement of the castings on the bolts 7 will be facilitated.
.It will be seen that with this construction when the main tongue 4 is turned the wheels on the spindles 9 will follow the direct line of draft and when a corner is turned the bull wheel will act as a pivot causing the grain wheel to travel backward and allowing the binder to proceed cutting a full swath and leaving a perfect square corner. It will be further seen that I have provided means for protecting the wheels so that the bearings will not be worn because of the presence of dust or other foreign material.
While I have illustrated and described a particular embodiment of my invention, it has merely been, for the sake of convenience and I do not wish to be limited to thatparticular embodiment as it is obvious that numerous changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or exceeding the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
The combination with the stub tongue of a binder, of an arm depending therefrom and having a ball and socket connection thereon, a main tongue connected to the arm by the ball and socket connection, a pair of bars securedto the main tongue and extend ing transversely thereof, bolts extending between the ends of the bars, wheel spindles having bearing members mounted on said bolts, the said spindles being adapted to turn in a horizontal plane, arms extending outwardly from said bearing members, a rod In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, connecting said arms, one of said bearing in the presence of two Witnesses.
members having an arm extending at right FREDRICK H. BOBIER. angles to the first mentioned arms and a rod Witnesses:
' connecting the last mentioned arms and the CHRISTIAN WIBE,
stub tongue. J QHN S. KBISTIANSQN.
