ADVERTISING NOVELTY.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DANIEL H. PE'I'IIN- GELL, a citizen of the 'United States, residing at Golconda, in the county of Humboldt and State of Nevada, have invented a new and useful Advertising Novelty, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to improvements in advertising novelties, one ob ect of the invention being the provision of a device adapted to have attached thereto various advertisements, and forming in reality a con1- bination tool, the main body or carrying portion of which is made from a single blank of metal and folded upon itself so that the spaced and free terminals thereof will have anormal resilient tension to separate, the junction portion being so constructed as to prmide a means for removing bottle caps, while the intermediate portion constitutes a support for such articles, as for instance, a button-hook, cork-screw and a key.

\Vith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in plan illustrating the main portion of the blank before bending. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the complete device with the various pivoted portions thereof extended. Fig. 3 is a cross section taken on line 33 of Fig. 4.. Fig. 4 is an end view of the complete device with the parts collapsed or folded.

Referring to the drawings, the blank 1 is composed of the two wing sections 2, each section of which near the folding or junction portion 4 is provided with the rectangular apertures which provide a means for engaging a square shank, as for instance, upon a Prestolite tank.

The perforations 6. 8 and 9 are provided through the body of the blank adjacent the folded portion 4 and constitute means whereby a key 7 may be detachably mounted between the folded portions of the blank and held in place by means of a pivot inserted within the apertures 6, and whereby a button-hook 7 may be properly pivoted on the pin mounted. in the apertures 9.

The blank is provided intermediate its ends with a heart shaped opening 5, and a cusp-shaped recess in one edge forming with said opening 5 a V-shaped bridging portion 5. The blank is doubled on a transverse line, whereby the opening 5 is in the bend of the doubled sheet metal member. Said opening has its cusp-shaped portion arranged adjacent the respective edge of the double member, thus providing said V- shaped portion 5 which is now in the form of a loop. The median line of the opening coincides with the median line of the bend, and the opposite halves of said opening are arranged at an obtuse angle with the median line of the bend, as seen in Fig. 2, and extend toward said edge of the member. The opening 5 and portion or loop 5' provide effective means for removing the crown caps or seals of crown bottles. The loop or portion 5' is adapted to engage or wedge in a most effective manner under the apron 0r rim of the cap, while the opposite edges of the opening 5 are adapted to rest upon the cap, so that when the member is swung properly, the cap is loosened. Upon the outer face of the enlarged porare pasted or otherwise secured advertising signs 11, the signs 12 and 15 being provided and pivoted as at 13 in Fig. 2, so that the catch 14 may be moved into and out of registration with the apertures 8 so as to lock oted signs 12 or 15 to the'body portion of the device.

The reduced terminals 18 of the blank when disposed, as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 4, have a normal tendency to separate, and when moved to the dotted line position, as shown in Fig. 4. by means of the forefinger and thumb pressing thereupon, constitute a pair of tweezers. A pivoting member or support 17 for a cork-screw 16 is disposed between the respective members 12 intermediate of the ends and the junction portion 4 thereof and thus provides a means for limiting the outward extension of the terminals 18 the cork-screw 16 is swung in and placed in the position as shown in Fig. 4, when the terminals 18 are employed as tweezers. The portion of the device between the key 7 and the cork-screw 16, constitutes a means whereby the finger grip' portion of gas cocks may be engaged to turn on or off the gas, thus combmmg in a device of this character, a combination tool, with the respective piva maximum amount of advertising space. Upon the outer face of the-terminals 18 are disposed the files 19, which constitute nail files, thus permitting the utilization of all possible space upon the device.

It is intended that the key 7 may be detachably connected to the present device, so that when the same is used in hotels, and carries the room indicating card 12, the key 7 may be removed therefrom when the transient guest is leaving, and the advertising novelty be presented to him as a souvenir. The tips or reduced terminals 18 also provide finger nail cleaners, so that with the files 19, a complete manicure implement is provided.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings, it is evident that a device constructed according to and embodying the present invention, provides a ready combination tool for the many uses above referred to, and one which may be made of punched and formed metal, for carrying the .various articles, thus providing an advertising novelty that is ornamental in appearance and is also useful.

What is claimed is:

A crown cap remover embodying an elongated doubled sheet metal member having its limbs juxtaposed to provide a handle, the bend of said member being located at one end of said handle and substantially at right angles with the axis of said handle, the bend being of a length coincident with the width of said member and having a heart-shaped opening extending into the limbs of said member, said opening having its cuspshaped portion adjacent to one edge of said member and said edge being so formed to provide a narrow V-shaped loop to engage under a crown cap.
