ing Lamps; and I dohereby declare the fol-1 loving to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains te make and use the same, reference be ing had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
T his invention relates to street illuminating lamps of the series or multiple type and it has for its object to provide lamp of sim' ple construction which will distribute the light ray downwardly and laterally as far as the efiiciency of the light unit will permit.
A further object is to provide a direct street lighting lamp, which will reflect the rays which are ordinarily wasted in the shy together with other rays, downwardly and laterally, through prism glasses which will distribute said rays in such a manner to prevent any shadows being cast by the frame supporting said lamp and said rays being distribute uniformly to prevent the usual bright spot at the base of the supporting lamp post.
These as well-as other objects, which will readily appear to those skilled in the art, I attain in the device described in the specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application. and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a lamp constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is. a vertical section, and Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 2,
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A represents a supporting post of suitable construction, to the top of which is secured my improved street lighting lamp, which comprises a frame A having a band A and lower band A, Said lower band is so shaped as to conform to and snugly fit the upper end of the post A, and
extending upwardly and inwardly from said band A? are straps Eff-which are adapted to be clamped to the upper end of the post A by a nut and washer A carried by a rod B, secured within the post by means not shown.
Extending upward from the band- A and connected to the upper band A are ribs C, which. are provided with guidcways C to receive the prism glasses D, said glasses. bcing set at a slight angle as shown. Secured to the upper end A by lugs A and screws A is a light ray reflecting top D, preferably hexagonal in plan and pyramidal in cross section and secured to the under side of said top and near the apex thereof is a convexcd reflector D the ob ect of which is to reflect these light rays from the lighting unit E (which would be wasted in the apex of the top D) back to the prism glasses to be distributed therefrom, thereby utilizing the full efficiency of the lighting unit.
What I claim to be new is 1. A supporting post, a lamp thereon, a lower band conforming to and snugly fitting the upper end of said post, straps extending upwardly from said band, an upper band, a light ray reflecting top secured to the upper band, a convexed reflector suspended within said top, ribs connecting the upper and lower bands and prism glasses supported by said ribs and said reflector.
2. A supporting post, a lamp thereon, a lower band conforming to and snugly fitting the upper end of said post, straps extending upwardly from said band, an upper band, a light ray reflecting top secured to the upper band, a convexed reflector suspended within said top, ribs connecting the upper and lower bands, prism glasses supported by said ribs and cotiperating with said reflector, and means for supporting an electric lamp beneath said reflector.
In testimony whereof I hereunto ailix my signaturein presence of two witnesses.
cotiperating with I
