HOLDER FOR NURSING-BOTTLES.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, CHARLES F. DEVENNY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Nursing-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in holders for nursing bottles, the object of the invention being to provide a holder which constitutes a two-part wire frame capable of adjustment to fit any ordinary size and shape of nursing bottle, and which is adapted to support the nursing bottle in an inclined position, so that the child can receive the entire contents of the bottle.

A further object is to provide a holder of the character described, which is adapted to be supported on a string or other flexible device, which latter operates by reason of the weight of the holder and the bottle to securely clamp the holder around the bottle and prevent accidental disconnection of the holder from the cord or other flexible connecting device.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is a view in side elevation illustrating the normal position of the holder while supporting a nursing bottle. Fig. 2 is a view in elevation or top plan of Fig. 1.. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary View showing the position of the hooks 13 before they are drawn together by the cord 12, and Fig. f is a fragmentary view illustrating the connection of the two frame members.

1 represents an ordinary nursing bottle, and 2 and 3 represent the two members or wire frames which cooperate to form my improved nursing bottle holder. The frame 2' is composed ofa single piece-of spring wire having a ring a at one end of the frame formed by curving the intermediate portion of the wire, and securing the two ends of the wire adjacent the ring portion 4 by means of a small wire or other suitable securing device 5. From the device 5, the two ends of the wire extend longitudinally, and at right angles to the ring 4, and are corrugated as shown at 6 for a purpose which Specification of Letters Patent.

will hereinafter appear. The ends of the wire forming the member 2 are then bent or curved as shown at 7 to extend around the sides or edges of the bottle, and the extreme ends of the wire are then bent rearwardly as shown at 8, are then curved in substantially the are of a circle as shown at 9, and then extend parallel to the bent portion 8 as shown at 10, and close to the bent portion 10 with the extreme ends of the wires flared outwardly as shown at 11 to provide an entrance for a cord 12. The parts 8, 9, and 10, form hooks which for convenience of description I have given the reference numeral 13. The frame 3 is also composed of a single piece of wire bent upon itself midway its ends, and flared apart slightly forming an eye let to receive the cord 12. The end portion 15' of fraine 3 is bent at right angles to the main portion of the frame, and is located against the end of the nursing bottle, While the main portion of the frame which constitutes the two ends of the wire extend longitudinally of the bottle, and have eyes 16 at their free ends which are positioned around the corrugated portions 6 of frame 1. It will be noted that the corrugations of the portions 6 are so arranged that when the frame is tightly clamped to the bottle, the eyes 16 will be held against movement on the frame 2, but I also utilize the holding cord 12 to effectually clamp the bottle in the holder. The cord 12 is positioned through the eye 1%, then one end of the cord is extended through both hooks 13, while the other end of the cord is projected in the opposite direction through both hooks 13. The portions 8 and 10 of the hooks 13 are so close together that it requires some pressure to force the cord into the curved portions 9, so thatany possibility of the bottle holder becoming released from the cord, eventhough the child turns the bottle in all directions, is entirely overcome. It is, of course, to be understood that the two ends of the cord 12 are secured to some object, as for example, to the sides of the crib, gocart, carriage, orjother receptacle for the baby, and the weight of the bottle on the cord maintains the parts in the position shown in Fig. 1. That is to say, the bottle is supported at the proper incline, so that the child can obtain the entire contents of the bottle, and yet be relieved from the weight of the bottle or from any danger of breaking the bottle.

The two members 2 and 3 of the frame are capable of considerable adjustment relative to each other so as to fit various sizes of bottles, and also various shapes of bottles, and the weight of the bottle on the cord tends to draw the two hooks 13 together and securely clamp the portions 7 of frame 2 around the bottle. It will also be noted that the weight of the bottle on the cord tends to draw the eye 14L toward hooks 13, which not only presses the end 15 against the end of the bottle, but also draws the ring 4 against the neck portion of the bottle, thereby clamping the bottle longitudinally of the holder.

Vhile I have illustrated my improvements in connection with a cord for holding the same, it is of course to be understood that the holder may be supported in various other ways, as for example, the hooks might be caught over the ordinary strap of a gocart or baby coach, and other means might be resorted to for supporting the same.

Various slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my inven tion, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention,what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A holder for bottles comprising two frames adjustably connected together and free to slide one on the other, one frame having a portion adapted to engage the end of the bottle, the other frame having portions designed to clamp the neck and body portions of the bottle, and means on one of said frames whereby the bottle may be securely held in an inverted position, substantially as described.

2. A holder for bottles comprising two frames adjustably connected together and free to slide one on the other, one of said frames having a portion designed to engage the end of the bottle, the other of said frames having ring-shaped portions designed to encircle the neck and body portions of the bottle, the ring-shaped portion which encircles the body of the bottle being provided with a hook whereby the bottle may be securely held in an inverted position, substantially as described.

3. A holder for. bottles comprising two frames adjustably connected together and free to slide one on the other, one of said frames having a portion designed to engage the end of the bottle,the other of said frames having ring-shaped portions designed to encircle the neck and body portions of the bottle, the ring-shaped portion which encircles the body of the bottle having ends terminating in the form of hooks normally spaced apart, said end-engaging frame having an eye, and a cord extending through said eye and said hooks whereby when the weight of the bottle is suspended from said cord, the ring-shaped portions will be clamped around said body and said first frame will have its portion clamped against the end of the body, substantially as described.

e. A holder for bottles comprising two frames adjustably connected and free to slide one on the other, one of said frames having a bent portion for engagement with the end of the bottle, the other of said frames having ring-shaped portions surrounding the neck and body portion of the bottle re spectively, and means for connecting the 'bent portion of said frame with the ringshaped portion of the other frame, whereby said ring-shaped portions and bent portion of the frames are clamped to the bottle and the latter is securely held in an inverted po sition, substantially as described. 7

5. A holder for nursing bottles, comprising two Wire frames, one wire frame having corrugations therein, and the other wire frame having eyes adjustable on the corrugated portions of the first-mentioned frame,

one of said frames having a ring thereon adapted to receive the neck of a bottle, the other of said frames having a portion positioned against the end of the bottle with an eye at its free end, said first mentioned frame having a pair of hooks thereon and a pair of clamping portions around the sides of the bottle supporting said hooks, and a supporting cord positioned through said eye and having its ends projecting in opposite directions through the hooks, substantially as described. a
