SEPARABLE CASE AND- REGISTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 14, 1914. Serial No. 856,798.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK G. MARBACH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Separable Cases and Registers, of which fication;
This invention relates generally to ac- 0 count registers.
a plurality of hinged bill leaves.
. ranged a cash .Heretofore several types of account registers have been made and used, one construction involving a wooden frame or rack upon which rests the register proper comprising In the wooden frame has been ardrawer and recorder and the register has sometimesbeen made removable from the frame so that it can'be placed in bottom of the the safe or vault as a protection against fire.
This method of manufacture has certain drawbacks or objections and among them may be mentioned the difficulty which sometimes occurs in fitting the cash drawer and recorder in the sections provided for them.
The object of my invention therefore is to avoid all of the objections incidental to building the register and its appurtenances into the protective case, and my invention therefore consists in providing a protective metallic case having an upwardly opening top or cover and a downwardly and outwardly opening front and arranging in this case a skeleton frame whichframe is made entirely independent of the case and is adapted to carry not only the bill leaves in proper order and positionbut also the cash drawer and recorder.
The invention consists in making this frame carrying these parts independent of, and separable from the case, the connection means being such that the frame and its parts can be quickly and easily attached to and detached from the case whenever desired. tails of construction and novelties of combination, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification: Figure 1 is a perspective view of an account register embodying my present invention. Fig. 2 is a view showing the frame and connected parts separated and de-= the following is a spec1-' The invention consistsv also in certain despective view of the skeleton frame, and, F1gs. 4, 5 and 6 illustrate details of construction.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates the sheet metal case proper which is constructed in the manner fully described and claimed in my application Serial 860,040, this sheet metal case being filled with asbestos or other fire The cover B opens upwardly and the front C opens outwardly and downwardly. The bottom D is perfectly smooth. Within this caseT place a skeleton frameE which is constructed of upper and lower pieces of an le iron F properly spaced apart by angle uprights G, all of these pieces being united by spot-welding or other suitable process. The uprights at the front instead of being of angle iron are made flat and the front member of the bottom portion is angled as shown Patented June 13, 1916.

, of the bottom as most clearly shown in Fig.
5. Suitable brace rods can be employedfor giving the proper rigidity to this skeleton frame. Upon the top of the skeleton frame I preferably place a covering plate H, the rear end of which is inclined upwardly as shown at I, this inclined portion being braced by suitable braces I, and pivoted to the forward side of said inclined portion are the bill leaves K which are constructed in accordance with the bill leaf shown and described in my application filed of even'date herewith. At each side of the skeleton frame are the drawer guides L, which are made of channel iron spot-welded to the uprights of the skeleton frame, the channel faces being turned inwardly to receive slides M upon the cash drawer N and register drawer 0, these slides M being of channel iron also spot-Welded to the outer sides of the said drawers N and'O, the dimensions of the slides being such as to fit snugly within the guides M and slide freely back and forth.
' The opposite sides of the dawers N and O laterally in; opposite directions from the botdes L, these guides L being formed from a piece of channeled and flanged metal-arranged upon a brace strip and spot-welded to the skeleton frame as most clearly shown in Figs. 3 and 5. From this it will be seen that'each drawer has a tom portions of said drawers and are adapted to engage the gui slide at the bottom a top, which slides worl tached to and constit skeleton-frame.
' The rear end of the skeleton frame is vided with two or more rearwardly, pro ecting headed screws or adapted to engage keyor eyes Q, arranged in case and by means of skeleton be quickly and easily tached from 1 angle iron front F of the front or door turned up for the par case.
