JOHN E. HUGHES AND THOMAS AJCURRY, OFLONG POINT, ILLINOIS} Specificationof Letters Patent.
' Application filed May 7, 1915. Serial No. 26,642. u
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOHN E. HUGHES and THOMAS A. CURRY, citizens of the United States, residing at Long Point, in the county of Livingston and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Milking-Stools, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to milkingj stools, and more particularly to the class of clamp hangers for milking stools.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a hanger of this character wherein the milking stool or seat can be conveniently attached to a stall for a cow within a stable and detached therefrom at will, the hanger being of novel construction to secure the firm and secure mounting of the stool 0r seat for use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a hanger of this character where-.
in the aws for clamping the same to a support are closed to grip the latter when the seat is occupied so that there is no possibility of the hanger becoming loose while in use. 1
Another object of the invention is the provision of a hanger of this character which is simple in construction, reliable and efiicient in operation, strong, durable and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will: be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended;
In the drawing :Figure 1 is a perspective view of the milking stool hanger-constructed in accordance with the invention applied to a partition pipe of a cow stall.'
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the hanger open ready for application to the stall. Fig, 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view. 'Fig. t is a fragmentary longi-Q tudinal sectional view. 1
S1m1lar reference charactersmdicate corresponding parts throughout the several from the said pipe.
furcated end of the arm 5 and also through the said bar for "permitting the swinging movement of the latter, the inner end of the said bar being formed with a notch 10 to receive a stop pin 11 which is engaged in the arm 5 and passed transversely through the bifurcation 7 to limit the swinging of the Patented May 30,
Arranged upon the straight portion of the arm 5 is a pair of bell crank levers 15 formed at their outer ends with outwardly bowed jaws 16, while loosely connected to their inner ends are links 17 ,the same being also pivotally connected to the bar 8 so that on the swinging'of the latter in one direction 7 I the levers 15 will be moved to bring the jaws V into clamping engagement with the pipe A,
and on reverse swinging movement of the bar 8'the levers will'be reversely moved for the opening of the jaws to release the hanger v These levers 15 have their pivot 18- connectingthe same mounted in the straight portion of the arm 5, and the,
; 'Fromthe foregoing description, takenin connection with the accompanying drawing,
the construction and manner ofoperation of the device. will be clearly understood, and
therefore, a more extended explanation has been omitted. I
V What is claimed is: I I
1. A seat hanger comprising a brace arm having. a fork terminal forming a seat for a support, a bar swingingly connected to the opposite end of the brace arm, a pair of jaw levers pivotally mounted on the arm, and
link connections between the said levers and r the bar for the opening and closing of the levers on swinging movement of the bar.
2. A seathanger comprising a brace arm having a fork terminal forming a'seat for a;
support, a bar swingingly connected tolthe opposite end of the brace arm, a pair of jaw vers on swinging movement of the bar, a seat having a clip detachably engaged on the bar, a stop pin mounted on the arm for 15 limiting the swinging movement of the bar in one direction.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
