Description

Luis 3 .s'em m's Q vmm \wu\\ J Ax-Sue, \mntw- Patented Aug. 29, 1 871.
WAN es:
PATENT OFFICE;
LOUIS J. JENNER, OF OHIOOPEE FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED WATCH-KEYS AND CORK-SCREWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 118,456, dated August 29, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS J. JENNER, of Ohioopee Falls, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have made and invented a Combined Watch-Key, Cork-Screw, and atch- Opener, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying magnified drawing making a part of the same.
The object of my invention is to combine several distinct instruments in one, convenient to carry in the pocket, at the same time making the watch-key detachable to facilitate the substitution of a new or differently-sized key for a Worn out or discarded one.
In the drawing above referred to, Figure l is a sectional side elevation of my invention; Fig. 2, a side elevation of the same, showing a different arrangement of the several parts; and
Fig. 3, another side elevation of the same, showing a change of form and a third arrangement of the several parts.
The part marked a representsthe tube crwatch key, provided with a screw-thread, to facilitate the attachment and detachment of the same to and from the body of the instrument; but any other convenient method of coiniection may be adopted, or the key a may be made fast to the ring I) or case d. b is the ring or handle of the cork-screw, which ring or handle may be of any convenient form and dimensions. 0 is an ordinary cork-screw, protected, when not in use, by the case or shell (I. I prefer to secure cork-screw c in case or shell cl by means of screw-thread h, but any other convenient method of connection may be adopted, as simply the one pressed snugly into the other. e is a thin projecting lip, especially intended for opening Watches, but applicable to yarious other uses, such as raising tacks, driving screws, &c., such lip being made fast to case 01 or handle b.
It is obvious that the watch-key and cork-screw may be combined and used without the opener e, or the cork-screw and opener without the key a.
I do not claim the invention of any of the several elements a, I), c, d, c, or f; but
What I do claim as my invention is 1. The cork-screw 0, provided with case or shell (I and ring or handle I), in combination with the key a, substantially as specified.
2. The cork-screw 0, provided with ring or handle b and case or shell (I, in combination wit opener e, substantially as specified.
LOUIS J. JENNER.
