Description
PATENT OEEIGE.
W'ILLIAM BOSWELL, OF PONTIAC, MICHIGAN.
INIPROVEMEN'I IN MILK-RACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 118,098, dated August 15, 1871.
To all Whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM BoswELL, of lPontiac, in the countyv of Oakland and State of ll/Iiehigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Milk-Hacks; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying` drawinr and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in which my invention is shown in perspective.
rlhe nature of this invention relates to an improvement in mil k-racks, whereby vermin are prevented from getting' at the milk, and creeping insects attemptingl to reach it are caught and destroyed. This invention consists in ineasing,I the bottom ot' the revolving standardnupon which the arms forming the milk-rack are fastened with a smooth meta-llie surface, high enough to prevent any vermin from gaining a foothold 011 the wooden part of the standard, and surmounting; this metallic surface with an annular cup titted close to the standard, which is to be filled with molasses or other sweet sticky substance or oil, and in placing a similar annular cup at the top of the standard for the same purpose, and in the safe placed beneath the last-mentioned vcup and above the milk-rack, circular in form, and extending over the outer edges of the pans, so as to form a cover for the racks.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents the iioor or other convenient platform, in which the revolving` standard B is stepped. O is the metallic surface surrounding the bottom of the revolvin g' standard B, and snrm ounted bythe annular cup D closely fitted to the standard B, to contain oil or molasses to entrap and destroy any insects that may fall therein. E are the arms on the standard B forming the millerack, and F is the circular safe placed above the milk-rack and extending far enough from the standard B to cover the outer edges ofthe milk-pans placed on the racks E, whereby vermin are prevented from gettin g' at the milk from the top; and G is an annular cup, similar to the cup D, and used for a like purpose; and H isthe eeilin g or other convenient beam, in which the revolvingl shaft B is journaled at the top, as and for the purposes above set forth.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
rIhe revolving standard B, the metallic surface O, thel annular cups D G, the safe F, with the arms E, when combined to operate as and for the purposes substantially above set forth.
WILLIAM BOSVELL.
