.Be it known that I, AUGUSTA Picnnnmc CooLBno'rn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cambridge, countyof Middlesex, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have inlvented certain new and useful Improvements in Veils, of which the following is a specifi-- cation.
This invention relates to veils and particularly to the adjustment of the veil about .the throat. Various attempts have been made to provide a simple andetlicient fastening for the lower part of the veil so that it might be gathered in about the throat and yet be drawn down from the hat. As far 4as is known, this problem has never been satisfactorily solved, and the only relief for the `-ditlihas been such makeshift devices as women have been able to contrive for their own personal use, such as the use of pins or the twisting up of parts of the veil which may be tucked under the collar. of these are unsatisfactory and annoying and tend to distort or rupture the veil.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and eiiicient means for gathering in the veil, holding it tightly in place and drawing it smoothly down from the hat.

My device consists of a pair of external strips l and Q'prefe'rably. of'ribbon or similar material and stitched along one edge and just inside of the other edge. Between these inclosed an elastic strip 3.

What I therefore claim and desire tio secure by Letters Patent is:
.A veil having a pair of covering strips.
