SAFETY-HOOK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1915.
Application filed Janiiary 15, 1914. Serial No. 812,242.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, the undersigned, CHARLES KIMBARK, citizen of the United States, residing at Stanford, in the county of Fergus and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Safety-Hooks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to hooks, and more particularly to that class known as safety hooks.
One of the principal objects of the invention is the provision of a hook of the class described, adapted to be used in connecting various parts of a set of harness, or other objects to which it is adapted.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a hook of the class described which will be simple, durable, inexpensive to manufacture and eiiicient in operation.
With these and other objects in View, which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
The drawing represents a perspective view of a hook constructed according to my invention.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 5 designates a rigid shank of the nature of wire or other suitable material having at each end thereof a loop 6, the loops and the shanks being in substantially the same plane, and the terminal of each loop bent at right angles to the shank to form a single loop 9 with a shank bent at right angles to the first named loops and perpendicular to the axis of the shanks, the'end 10 of the one loop 9 being below the shank, while the end 10 of the opposite loop is above the shank, that is the terminal extends in opposite directions on opposite sides of the shank.
Each loop 9 is substantially circular and is equi-distant at all points from the shank 5 and the longitudinal plane of each loop 6 is substantially at a right angle to the trans verse plane of the side loop 9, the outer end of the loop 9 being offset to one side of said vertical plane.
What is claimed as new is The improved safety hook for harness herein described, comprising a straight one piece rigid shank having at each end thereof a loop, the loops and the shank being in substantially the same plane, with the terminal of each bent at right angles to the shank to form a single loop with a single bend at right angles to the first named loops and perpendicular to the axis of the shank, the terminals extending in opposite directions on opposite sides of the shank.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES KIMBARK.
