Be it known that l, ALFRED Parnu, a citi zen of the Swiss Republic, residing at Berlin, German, have .invented certain new and useful Improvementslin Centrifugal Throwing-Pumps, 'of which the following is a specification. r.This invention relates to centrifugal throwing pumps and more particularly to such pumps for use in drawing oil and compressing gases or vapors.
One obgect of the invention is to construct a pump of this type which will create a strong suction and which will operate in an improved and eiicient manner.
Further objects of the invention, as wel-l as wherein l have described my invention.

Referring to the drawing l is the casing Voi." the pump within which rotates the impeller 2 mounted on the shaft 3. The shaft may be driven in any suitable manner. rlhe casing is shown as made up of two sections, a main or body section 4 'and a front removable section 5. The body section of the casing is 'provided with a projecting portion 6 betweenwhich and the hub 7 of -the impeller is arranged a water tight packing 8. This body I"section 4 is constructed to provide a narrow relatively deep annular discharge chamber 9 for water and gasessurrounding Athe ixiipeller 2. The front section of the casing i provided with a central inlet or suction opening 10 for water, surrounding A which is the annular chamber 1l separated .Y therefrom by wall 12. IThe chamber 11, which may be termed the vacuum or suction vapor chamber, communicates with the vapor inlet conduit 13. This front section is further provided with an annular groove 14 around the face adjacent-the iinpeller, coinmunicating with which are spaced directing nozzles 14 also formed in the front section. The spaces 11` between these nozzles 14 communicate with the vacuum chamber 11, The irnpeller 2 is constructed with suit-k ably curved varies forming two sets ofl pas sages 15 and 16 arranged serially as regards the iow of liquid, the passages 15 connecting the central inlet opening 10 with one end of the nozzles 14 and the passages 1G.V connecting theother end of nozzles la with the annulaichamber 9. The passages 0r vane spaces 15 are designedto impart considerable veloci ty to the liquid or throwing water, after which the water Hows through the stationary nozzles 14. 1t is `after leaving these nozzles that the throwing water acts on the air or gas that is to be compressed. The vane spaces 15 all receive their supply of water from the common supply chamber or opening 10 and deliver it through ports 15 in the side wall or face of the impeller, as shown in Fig. 3. As shown, there are three of these passages and ports, but the number can be changed if desired. Bee tween theimpeller and the casing are suitable paclrings, labyrinth paclrings being shown, the leakage through the right hand paclring being drained oli through passage 17. While in the present instance these nozzles 14* are shownas being stationary and arranged in the front section 5, it will be understood that I am not limited to this arrangement as these nozzles might be arranged in other ways, as for example, in the form of a wheely adapted to revolve either in the same direction as, or in the opposite directionto the impeller, as found desirable.
The operation is as follows.: Assuming, by way oir' example, that the'pump is being used in connection with a' condenser for drawing od the air and uncondensed gases therefrom,
