Letters Patent No. 115,254, dated May 23, 1871.
MPROVEMENT IN ROTARY PUMPS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the sammy I, Basson l). Tnx-tsr, ot" East Germantown, Myne county, Indiana, have invented an improved Rotary Pump, of which the following is a speeitieation.
Nature and Objects of the Inrcntion.
This invention relates to a rotary pump, which consists essentially of au inclosing-ease or shell, au inner cylinder which contains the rotating disk and reciprocating piston, two abutments, and a receiving and discharging-pipe, the details of the apparatus being hereinafter fully described.

General Description.
The inelosing-casc or shell consists of a rectangular vessel, A, with which there is east the circular iiange i3 that constitutes the cyiinder ol' the pump.
Projecting: inwardly from the iiange B are twoabutments, C and l), whose limetious will be hereafter described.
lThe operative parts ol` the pump are secured in position by a cap, ll, which is attached to the shell by bolts l".

These pistons may, ii' preferred, be fnrnislwdwith a packing, l, ol leather, india rubber, or other snitalxle material, which may be retained in position by plate .lt and screws r, as .seen in iig. 4.

These rollers J play within groovesh'. that are formed on the inner sides ot' the shell A and cap E, as shown in tig. 3.

The eccentric portions are arranged so as to cause the pistons .l to clear the ahutments C and l) at the proper moment.
lu order to reduce the friction to a minimum, and to render the wear ot' the operative parts as slight as possible, the actuating grooves, instead ot' being formed in the shell and cap, are turned in steel plates S, which can be tittcd in said shell and cap.
