CARD-CASE.

T all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, CHARLES J. Drncns, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Card- Cases, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to card cases designed for holding foldable identification certificates or membership cards issued by fraternal or other organizations to its members, and which may conveniently be carried upon the person.

The invention consists in providing the card case with a deflecting or guiding surface for facilitating the introduction of the card into the case, and in spring retaining means whereby the card is held firmly and positively in place between said spring retaining means and the inner surface of the card case.

Another feature of the invention consists in so constructing the card case that its outer ends are free and unobstructed.

I am aware that card cases have been patented in which the card is held loosely between card retaining flaps and the inner side of the case, but these are not the equivalent of my invention, which is designed purposely for facilitating the entrance of the card into the case and then positively and firmly holding it against the inner surface of the card case.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1, is a view of my improved card case open, a card being indicated by dotted lines; Fig. 2, a cross section upon plane of line 22 Fig. 1, on an enlarged scale; Fig. 3, a similar view showing a card in place; Fig. l, is a detail of one of the deflecting and guiding plates upon a still larger scale.

The case is formed of two sections A, B, preferably rectangular in shape, hinged together, as at D, each section being made of a single piece of sheet metal, and formed with side flanges a, a, Z), Z), and end flanges a 79*.

It will thus be seen that I provide a card case in which the card is easily placed in position, and when so placed is positively and uniformly held in position and against the inn er surfaces of the sections of the case.

What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,

A card case for foldable cards, formed in two sections of sheet metal, approximately rectangular in shape, said sections being hinged together at one end, each of said sections being bent up along its sides and free ends to form flanges, the upper side of each section provided with card retaining flaps terminating at their free ends in inwardly projecting spring clamps formed integrally therewith, the lower flanges having formed integrally therewith card deflecting and guiding member terminating in upwardly extending spring clamps bearing upon the inner surface of the sections, said clamps adapted to hold a card in said case, substantially as described.
