Letters Patent No. 114,331, dated May 2, 1871.

IMPROVEMENT IN HAND CORN-SHELLERS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the Bang 1, CHARLES MELSOM OHARA, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hand Corn-Shellers, of which the following is a specification.

Nature and Objects of the Invention.

This is an improvement in the hand corn-sheller patented to me the 23d November, 1869, and is designed to afl'ord the operator greater control of the instrument, and consists in the substitution of adjustable loops for the thumb and middle finger in place of the straps, which in my patentedimprovement aforesaid receive the entire hand of the operator.

Instead, of the large straps extending the whole length of the plates to receive the entire hand of the operator, I provide two loops, B 0, one to receive the thumb and the other the middle finger of the operator.

Elhese loops are attached one to each outside plate by pivot-bolts I), that permit an angular adjustment of either loop to suit the hand of the operator,

Claim.

I claim herein as new and of my invention- The combination of the three toothed or roughened hinged plates, A A A, and the loops B and C,

when said loops are pivoted to the plates and all the parts constructed and arranged for operation in the manner described.
