FRITZ HAMMER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
WOVEN PILE FABRIC.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 15, 1915.
Application filed February 13, 1914. Serial No. 818,454.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRITZ HAMMER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, and now residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Woven Pile Fabrics. of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to the production of pile fabrics woven double and cut during the weaving to produce two distinct exactlv alike fabrics when finished in pattern or color effects and weight or out after the fabric has been removed from the loom.
The nature and scope of my present invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, in which Figure 1, is a diagrammatic view, in longitudinal section through a pile fabric woven double to be cut in two, in which the respective pile threads are employed, three in one weft plane and in which the weft threads are bound on the back by binder warps and the face of the cloth by binder warps and pile threads and the latter when.
not binding the respective separate iface weft threads floating between either the upper or lower bound weft planes and a suitable number of stufier-threads apportioned in the weft planes so that any deficiency in weight in the one fabric due to the smaller number of pile-threads being compensated for by a suitable increase in the number of stufferthreads of the two like fabrics woven. Fig. 2, is a diagrammatic view, in longitudinal section of a modified form of a pile fabric woven double to be cut in two either during weaving or subsequently and a fabric in which the wefts throughout are doubly bound by binder-warp threads as well as respective face weft-threads by pilethreads, that is, three in one Weft plane and two in the other weft plane and not only binding said face wefts in the respective planes, but also providing the pile faces to be cut to form the pattern or design alike in color and other effects and a suitable number of stufier threads apportioned in the weft-planes so that any deficiency in weight in the one fabric due to the smaller number of pile-threads being compensated for by a suitable increase in the number of the stulfer threads to provide the required weight, in the double woven fabric.
Having thus described the nature and objects of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A double woven pile fabric, consisting of tWo weft-planes in which the weft-threads are bound by binder warp-threads and face weft-threads by pile-threads, the odd number thereof being arranged in one weftplane and the even number in the other weft-plane, said pile-threads binding not only the face weft-threads of said planes but providing also the pile faces for.the fabrics and forming the pattern or design alike in color effects thereof and a suitable number of stuifcr-threads apportioned in said weft-planes so that any deficiency in weight in the one fabric due to the smaller number of pile-threads being compensated for by a suitable increase in the number of the stuffer-threads, substantially as shown and described.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of the two subscribing witnesses.
FRITZ HAMMER.
