Specication of Letters Patent No. 11,417, dated August 1, 1854.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JEAN I. EFFERENN, of Springfield, county of Sangamon, State of Illinois, have invented a new7 and Improved Machine for Sawing Wood; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exa-ct description thereof, reiferI- ence being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon. f
The machine `consists of a substantial sawhorse such as is commonly used by wood sawyersA A. Below the horizontal piece which connects the legs of the`saw-horse is supported the iron crank B B, to which is attached the two fly Vwheels C C. The arm D is attached to said crank consisting of two parts with teeth so that the same may be shortened or lengthened as circumstances may require. This arm acts horizontally and is connected with the vertical lever E E at the point F. The saw G is connected with the upper part of this lever which is fastened at its lower end to theY saw horse atthe point H. By pulling on -ground so as to remove the Whole machine from place to place. In removing the machine the handles J J are used and are 1nsert-ed into the saw horse at the points K K.
