To all 'whom it may concern: Be it known that I, Jnnrcrs H. 'SoHLArLY, a' citizen of the United. States, residing at Canton, in'the county of Stark and State of 5 Ohio,'have invented a new and useful Sheet- -Metal Structural Section, of ,whichthe followiiig' s a specification.

This is an. important feature in the building of silos as in cases where there are loose jomts in a silo and the outer air is so allowed to enter and come in contact with theensilage the entire contents of a silo is often ruined by fermentation.
Although the drawings and above specification disclose the best mode in which I. have. contemplatedlem'bodying my invention I desire to be not limited to the details of such disclosure, for, in the further practical application of myfi invention, many changes in form and construction may be made, as circumstances require or experience suggests, without departing from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claims.
1. In a silo, a plurality of sections; each section" comprising a rectangular sheet metal body portion provided at its'edges with outstanding flanges, the flanges of adjacent sections abutting each other, the outer edges of the vertical flanges of a section being shorter than the distance between its horizontal flanges, the outer.- edges of the horizontal flanges of a section being longer than the distance between its vertical flanges, whereby. the horizontal flanges of adjacent sections overlap each other at their ends.
2. In a silo, a plurality of sections, each section comprising a rectangular sheet metal body portion provided at its edges with vertical and horizontal, simple, outstanding flanges and compound flanges including outstandingportgons and auxiliary brace port ons lying in planes transverseto said outstanding portions, the outer edges of the. vertical flanges of a section beingshorter than the distance between its horizontal flanges, the outer edges of a horizontal section being'longerthan the distance between its vertical flanges, whereby thehorizontal flanges of the adjacent sections overlap each other at their ends, the simple, outstanding flanges of each section connected to the out-v standing portions of the'compound flanges of adjacent sections to form connecting seams and; said auxiliary portions extending over and protecting said seams and bracing said outstanding, simple flanges and outstandingportions against distortion.
