Be it known that l, FREDERICK l/V. LIN Aman, a subject of the King ot' England, residingat Dubois, in the county ot' Clearfield and Stat-e of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new fand useful Improvements in loiler-Fluo-Cleaner Systems,` of which the followingr is a. specification.
This invention relates to improvements in boiler flue cleaner systems, and is designed as an improvement upon the type ot' flue cleaner systems disclosed in Letters Patent #705,912, granted July 29, 1902 to lVilliarn Eiehelberger; Letters Patent #801.858,
grant-ed October 17,1005 to William Eichelberger; Letters Patent #084910, granted Februaly 21, 101i to De Los E. Hibner; and Letters Patent #l,0ll,lll, granted Oct-ober l5, 1912 to James Moore, all oi which Letters Patent embody the broad principle olil directingstreams ol'l cleaning iiuid upon the exterior surfaces of boiler Ilues, said streams traveling,r in lines radial to the axis of the distributinzgr pipe from which they issue.

In the drawings: Figure l is a vertical side sectional view of a portion of a boiler of the Stirling type. with the `improved xed and rotating` flui(fl-distributingr pipes applied thereto, and Fig. 2 is a` vertical front sectional view of the same.
The reference. numeral l. designates the space between the top 2 oi' the boiler and the top baille plate 2 that extends between the drums 3 and 4, The boiler tubes in the type o'l' boiler here shown are disposed in four banks designated by the reference letters il. and B.
The numeral 5 designates a distributing pipe, or pipes, ior cleaning Huid, which pipes are located in the space l, above the baille 2 and are connected by a suit-able feed pipe G with a source of supply for steam or other fluid cleaning agent. Depending Jfrom the under side of each pipe that is employed is a` number of preferably equi-distant discharge nozzles 7 ext-ending through the baille 2 between the circulating` tubes 3 of the drums. in position to deliver the cleaning fluid to the space between the upper ends of 'the boiler tubes of the banks B. These nozzles are extended through the, baille 2 at an acute angle to the axis oi the pipe 5, s o as to efi'eetually project the cleaning a gent upon the upper portions olf the vtubes in banks B.
lVhere a superheater strueture such as shown at il is enuiloyed with a boiler of the type. shown, it desirable that such superheater structure be cleaned at the same time as the tubes of the boiler are cleaned. For this purpose, l place a pipe 5 in each space l, similar to the pipes 5, and provide each pipe 5 with nozzles 'l' projected through the baille 2 at an angle. or incline eorresponding 'to the incline-d position of the superl0() is discharged direetly onto the top oi' the super-beater and e'fl'eetually cleanses the upper portion thereof. These pipes 5 are connected 'to the feed pipe G that supplies the pipes 5.
A At suitable point-s with respect to the boiler tubes are disposed a numberoi revoluble fluid-distributing pipes, twelve of said pipes being shown in the accompanying drawings each designated by the reference numeral 10. Each of these pipes 10 is provided with a series of orifices or discharge nozzles 1l to direct cleaning fluidfrom the pipes lO between and among the various boiler tubes adjacent thereto, and the rotary movement of said pipes insures a variation in the direction of travel of the streams or jets of Huid to insure a cleansing of the entire outer surface area of the boiler tubes.-
Any suitable or preferred means may be utilized for effecting the rotary movement of the pipes 10, as for instance, sprocket or hand wheel swivel joints 12 mounted upon said pipes and adapted to be rotated through the medium of a chain. i
Steam or other Huid-cleaning agent is supplied to the rotary pipes 10 from any suitable source of supply through feed pipes 13, the specific arrangement and disposition of the pipe connections not entering into the present invention.
From the construction illustrated inthe drawing, and hereinbefore described, it will be apparent that the rotary distributing 'pipes accomplish the cleaning of all but the uppeiprtions of the boiler tubes, and that these portions which are removed from the sweep of streams of fluid issuing from the rotary pipes may be thoroughly cleansed by the Huid discharged from the stationary pipe or pipes 5, while the upper portions of the superheaters are effectually cleansed by the fluid discharged from the pipe or pipes 5. The present invention therefore, by providing the stationary distributing pipe above the baiiie between the drums supplements the interior rotary pipes and together with said pipes provide an efficient and thorough cleaner system. The pipes 5 and 5 being above the baiiies 2 are entirely protected from the heat of the furnace, while the pipes 10 are located with respect to the usual bafiie of the boiler so as to be protected llargely from the heat of the furnace.
The invention is susceptible to various modifications in structural details without departing from the salient feature of employing a stationary fluid distributing pipe at the top portion of the boiler, and hence it will be understood that the invention comprehends and'includes all vsuch constructions as may fall within the terms and scope y of the following` claims.

l. The combination with a boiler having banks of tubes and a baflie above said tubes between the drums of the boiler, of a stationary distributing pipe above said baille and having nozzles projecting through the bafile to project cleaning Huid onto the upper portions of said banks of tubes.
2. The combination with a boiler having banks of tubes, water druins to which the 'tubes are connected at their upper ends, and
a baille between said drums, of a fluid distributing pipe above said baffle and having discharge nozzles projected through the baiile at an acute angle to the aXis of the distributing pipe for projecting cleaning fluid onto the upper portions of said banks of tubes.
3. The combination with a boiler having banks of tubes, water drums to which the tubes are connected at their upper ends, and baffles between said drums, of a stati0n ary distributing pipe located above the baiie and having nozzles projected through the baiile for distributing cleaning vfluid onto the upper portions ofthe banks of tubes, and rotary distributing pipes arranged within the furnace space of the boiler.
4. The combination with a boiler having banks of tubes, water drums to which the tubes are connected at their upper ends, a baiile between said drums at the top of the bank of tubes, andasuperheater structure of a pair of distributing pipes arranged above said baffle and having lnozzles extending downwardly through the baiile, the nozzles of one of. said pipes being directed to project cleaning uid onto the upper portions of the boiler tubes, and the nozzles of the other pipe being directed to project cleaning fluid onto the upper portion of the superheater structure.
5. The combination with a boiler having banksof tubes, water drumsl to which the tubes are connected at their upper ends, a baille between said drums at the top of the bank of tubes, and a superheater structure, of a pair of distributing pipes arranged above said baffle and having nozzles extending downwardly through the battles, the nozzles ofone of said pipes being directed to project cleaning fluid onto the upper portions of the boiler tubes, the nozzles of the other pipes being directed to project clean'- ing fluid onto the upper portion of the super-heater structure, and a feed pipe common to both of said distributing pipes.
G. The combination with a boiler' having banks of tubes, and baffles at the upper ends of said tubes, of a stationary fluid distributing pipe located above the baiiie out of the heat zone of the furnace space and having nozzles projected through the baiile and di# rected so as to discharge cleaning fluid onto the upper portions of the boiler tubes, a rotary Huid distributing'pipe for the tubes within the furnace space, and a feed pipe common to the stationary and rotary pipes.
7. The combination with a boiler having banks of tubes, water drums to which the tubes are connected at their upper ends, and a baffle between said drums, of a fiuid distributing pipe arranged above said baiiie .end provided withnozzles disposed to pro- ]eet :i cleaning agent downwardly through the baille onto the upper portions of theV bunks of tubes.
