6.- In a typewriter or adding machine, the combination with a shaft and a line .space Wheel looselx1 mounted thereon, of a casing secured tot e line space wheel and rotatable step by step therewith, a direct linger wheel associatedi with said casing for rotating it and the shaft, a floating member adapted to float Within the casing and secured to the shaft, an auxiliary linger wheel adjacent the end of the casing and coaxial therewith, and connections between the auxiliary wheel and the floating member serving to cause rotation of the floating member and shaft in the same direction as the auxiliary wheel but at a different angular velocity.
