- GAS-BURNER with this object in view, the invention consists in a device to be in detail and claimed. In order that the invention may be better understood, referenceis had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, and in Xosition over the burner of a gas stove.
s shown in the drawing, the device consists of a. dome-shaped cap 5 in the top of hereinafter described which, at the center thereof, is an opening 6. The top and the side of the cap are also provided with small perforations 7 and 7, respectivelyi and at the junction of said 4 parts is a circu arseries of slots 8. The ameter' of the cap, at the base thereof, 18 such that it may be placed over the burner 9 of an ordinary gas stove, as shown in Fig.
2. The device can be readily applied to any burner that can be covered by the cap and no alteration in the structure of the burner is necessary. I p
In operation, when the gas is ignited, a rush of air is induced through the perforations 7 and 7, which tends to draw air and gas through the burner. This mixtufie passes through the cap 5 and striking the bottom of the utensil mounted over the burner, burns with a solid blue flame. The heat created by thecap produces .a suction Specification of lighters retest.

. a smaller quantity of gas is produced. The
air supply increases as the flow of gas increases, and there-is no waste of gas from imperfect combustion. The action. of the cap is similar 'to a stack or chimney. The amount of air passing through the air pipe of the burner is automatically regulated by the flow of gas and by the suction produced by the heat rising under the cap. The slots 8 equalize and reduce the size of the flame in the center opening 6, making the flame strike the surface to be heated with equal force. The perforations 7 and 7 are contracted at their outer ends, which increases the suction.
The number of Slots and perforations will the latter besuit different ing made in various slzes to sized burners.
Iclaim:
An attachment for gas burners comprising acap open at'the base to burner, the top of the cap being fiat, and its side being of the cap havingla central opening, and the side of the cap aving apertures, said cap also having slots at the junction of the top and side, and perforations ii the top surrounding the central opening.
In testimony whereof I afiigpmy signature in presence of two witnesses.
