Description

W.' K. KEELY.
STEAM VALVE.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 16. 1912.

W/TNESSES: uvmvroa $711M v mu S A? Vt B) ATTORNEY WILLIAM K. KEELY, OF SUSQUEHANNA, PENNSYLVANIA.
STEAM-VALVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 22, 1914.
Application filed September 16, 1912. Serial No. 720,605.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LWVILLIAM K. KEELY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Susquehanna, in the county of Susquehanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Steam-Valves, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in double valve gates, for circulating systems of water or steam and in which device two or more valves operate in a chamber and form connecting gates between the main supply pipe and the radiating pipes extending from the connecting chambers; it has for its object means for closing or cutting 01f the circulation of'steam or water from one portion of the radiating system, without interfering with the main circulating conduit of the system.
With this object in view my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which the figure represents a cross section of my device.
The same reference characters denote like parts in the figures of the drawing.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a body portion A having within it 3 curved chambers B, D and Ethe chambers D and E connecting with the chamber B.
C is the main supply pipe.
Between chambers B and E and B and l.) are the valves F and F connecting with chamber D is the radiating pipe G and connecting with chamber E is the radiating pipe H. The valves F and F are mounted in the usual manner and operated in the usual way. In operating my device the valves F and F being open, the steam or water circulate freely through the system, being supplied by the pipe 0 and radiating from the chamber B. When it is desired for any reason to shut off the circulation from the pipe G or any other radiating from the chamber D, I close the valve F and if it is desired to shut ofi the circulation from chamber E and pipe H, I close the valve F.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and for which I desire Letters Patent is as follows:
1. In a device of the character described a casing provided with a plurality of chambers comprising upper out-let chambers at each end of the casing, said out-let cham bers being spaced from each other, and a lower supply chamber extending substantially the length of the casing and between the upper out-let chambers, valves for controlling the passage of fluid from the supply chamber to the out-let chambers, a main supply pipe communicating with the sup ply chamber in the space between the upper out-let chambers, and out-let pipes communicating with the out-let chambers.
2. In a device of the character described, a casing, depending transverse partitions in the casing spaced from each other and terminating in horizontal portions connected to the casing at opposite ends thereof and in-- tel-mediate the top and bottom of the casing, said partitions dividing the casing into three chambers, a lower supply chamber extendingrsubstantially the length of the casing,,
and an upper outlet chamber at each end of the casing, the horizontal portion'of each partition being provided with an opening and valves for closing said openings, outlet pipes communicatingwith the out-let chambers and an in-let pipe communicating with the supply chamber in the space formed by the depending partitions.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM K. KEELY. Witnesses B. S. CURRAN, W. B. Rourn.
