' QUILT-COVER;
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 24, 1914.
Application led September 17, 1913. Serial No. 796,285.
T0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MARIE OPLUsTIL, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Quilt-Covers, of which the3 following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in covers for quilts and the like, and has for its object an 'improved cover of this 4character which is of simple construction, efficient in operationand ornamental in appearance.
The invention consists inthe combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and inA which,
Figure 1 is a plan view of a cover embodying my invention, partiallybroken away for the sake of clearness, and Fig. 2, a section taken on line -m of IFig. 1.
The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawing comprises a substantiallyflat envelop 1 made of ornamental cloth or similar fabric and provided with a substantially rectangular opening 2 in one of the sides thereof. 4 The cover 1 is provided adjacent the corners of opening 2 with four button holes 3 which are positioned to receive buttons 4 secured to the quilt 5.
i Button holes 3' are preferably formed in a strip 6 of cloth or'similar material which is secured to the adjacent portions of the envelop 1 by means of a strip of lace 7 and is provided with a' fringe of lace 8 as shown.
In use the quilt is inserted or removed through the rectangular opening 2 of' the envelop which thus exposes a portion of the quilt adding to the ornamental effect of the cover. VBy providing the strip of lace 7 andl fringe of lace 8, the flexibility of the construction 'is increased, a view of the buttons 4 afforded on either side of strip 6 thus facilitating positioning ofthe envelop, and the v Witnesses: i
ornamental appearance of the cover is enhanced. l
lVhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification Without departingfrom the spirit of the invention.
I, therefore, do not wishv to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth,` but desireto avail myself of such variations and quilt engaging said button holes, substantially as described.
2. The combination with a quilt, of a substantially fiat rectangular envelop having a substantially rectangular central opening in. one side; a strip secured to the edges of said opening by open work material, said strip being provided with button holes; and buttons, on said quilt engaging said buttonholes, substantially as described.
3. The combination with a'quilt, of a substantially flat' rectangular envelop having a substantially rectangular central opening inr one side; a strip secured-to the edges of said opening by open work material, said strip being provided with button holes; a flange of open work material on the inner edges of l said strip; and buttons on said quilt engag 85 ing said button holes, substantially as described.
vIntestimony whereof I have signed by diamefto this specification-in the presence of 'two subscribing witnesses.
