Description

E. G. BREWER.
BOTTLE PROTECTOR.
APPLIGATION FILED JAN. s1, 1913.
Patented Nov. 10, 1914.
v l/WENT/ am maw/b BY g1 W M70/mf ELLA G. BREWER, OF NEW YORK, /N. Y.
BOTTLE-PROTECTOR.
Bpecication of Letters Iatent.
Patented Nov. 1o, 1914.
Application led January 31, 1913. Serial N o. 745,324.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELLA G. BREWER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of New York, borou l1 vof Brookl n, county of New York, an State of eW York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-Protectors, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying sheet of drawing, illustrating a preferable embodiment thereof, is a full, clear, and concise description.
The object of my invention is to provide a padded bag or envelop capable of completely covering and affording protection for the entire bottle to insure against fracture or breakage thereof and also to effec tively secure in place the bottle stopper to prevent the escape of the contents of the bottle.
I shall now proceed to describe my invention with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein I have shown in elevation, a bag made in accordance with my invention, a portion thereof being partly broken away to show the interior construction and the manner in which the bottle is contained therein.
In carrying my invention into eect I use preferably an .outer cover of leather or other serviceable material l, an interior lining 2, which 'preferably is of waterproof nature, and an intermediate filling 3, which may be of cotton or hair or other suitable cushioning material. The inner lining 2, is joined to the outer covering l, at a point adjacent to the mouth or open end ot' the'bag as at 4, so that substantially the entire bag is provided with a padded wall so as to serve as a protecting medium to every por tion of any fragile article, such as a bottle, that might be placed therein.
5 indicates a draw-string provided at the mouth of the bag which, when pulled, will cause the material at the mouth to be drawn together and close over the top of the bottle which is indicated at 6, so that the padded top portion of the bag will closely contact with the neck of the bottle and bottle-stop per, securing the latter in place and preventing its loosening and the escape of the contents of the bottle.
An improved bag made according to my present invention serves to afford a conven ient, practical, and eflicient protecting medium for preventing the escape of volatile portions of perfume and also prevents accidental breakage of the bottle containing the same.
This invention is especially useful in providing the needed protection for bottles containing medicine and other substances which are so commonly carried loosely in hand bags, trunks, etc. Y For this purpose my improved form of bag will be constructed to accord to the approximate dimensions of the bottle and will be slight in bulk but ef.- ficient and afford the needed rotection.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new herein and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In combination with a fragile bottle or the like provided with a stopper, a removable protecting bag therefor, said bag comprising' an outer covering, a relatively smaller inner bag of waterproof material attached thereto at a point adjacent its opening, filling material .confined between said covering and inner bag, and a draw string adapted to close the mouth of the bag to cause the padded portion of the vbag to completely surround the bottle and stopper and engage the stopper and retain itin position, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ELLA G. BREWER. Witnesses:
WM. C. DUNN, P. FRANK SONNEK.
