Beit known that I, JOSEPH W. SHARP, Jr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the .county .of 4Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented;

The present invention relates to Water closets, and has for its object to providea'.`

In a device as speci'ed a hopper, a flushing rim at thetop of the hopper terminating-at the opposite sides of the rear wall`o the hopper, a siphon passage in'the* ware'of the device having an upleg constituting the rear wall of the hopper, a flushing chamber disposed at the top of the Siphon passage and having flushing apertures opening at the top of said rear wall,l supply ducts for the 'opposite sides of said flushing rim, independent supply ducts for said flushing chamber, and a supply duct for the upleg of saidsiphon passage.

A device as specified having a bowl Ain the front of the ware thereof, a vent passage leading in a straightline through the ware from the top of the rear wall of the bowl, a flushing rim at the top of the bowl terminating at the opposite sides of the vent passage, a flushing chamber in the bottom of the vent passage at the top of the rear wall of the bowl and constituting-a dam in the vent passage, a horn at the rear of the bowl opening to said vent passage and having an overiiow and room venting opening in its lower side,` and a.second dam in said horn rearwardly of said overflow opening to insure the passage of the overflow from the bowl through said opening.

A bowl of the character described provided with a bowl trap', a flushing rim at the top of the bowl terminating at the opposite sides of the rear wall thereof, supply passages at the opposite sides of the bowl, diaphragms in said passages adapted to direct the iniowing water into the bottom of 'said passages below the normal water level of the bowl, and a jet chamber atthe bottom of the bowl communicating with said supply passages, said supply passages communicat ing with the opposite ends of said flushing rim.
12. In a device as specified, a bowl, a flushing rim for the bowl interrupted at its rear side, an apron depending between the interrupted ends of the flushing rim, a horizontal vent passage extending rearwardly in a, straight line from between the ends of the .`=flush`ing rim to therear of the device, and *supply ducts for the opposite sides of said flushing rim.
