CONTROLLING RAILWAY POINTS AND SIGNALS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED MonAm), a citizen of the Republic of France, residing in Paris, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Controlling Railway Points and Signals, of which the following is a specification The present invention relates to improvements in the construction of the planes or plates constituting the central device for controlling the points and signals of railways, which was described in the Patent Specification No. 568412 of June 22, 1910.
These improvements are described below with the aid of the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents on a small scale the improved plane. Fig. 2 shows a part of Fig. 1 on a larger scale. Figs. 2 and 2 are, respectively, sectional views on lines IIII and III-III, Fig. 2. Fig. 3 is a section on the line AB of Fig. 2. Figs. 4, 5, 6 and 7, 8, 9 show respectively front, side and plan views of the two forms of tappets used in the construction of the planes.
Experience gained in the working of the first central controlling device made has shown that it was necessary to construct the tappets on which the cams of the route keys act, in order to move the planes, so that they practically can never wear out. For this purpose the planes which were formerly cut from a steel sheet, are according to the present invention made of drawn soft steel bars arranged perpendicularly to each other, so as to constitute the frames and by steel tappets of which only the points are made of cement steel and hardened, the whole being riveted together. Bars of four different types are employed in the construction of a plane. The frames are divided vertically by bars a to which are secured by rivets 9 bars Z) dividing the frames horizontally and tappets f (Figs. 7, 8, 9). The sides of the plane are constituted by vertical bars 0 of U section, in which the Specification of Letters Patent.

Having now described the nature of my said invention and the best means I know of carrying the same into practical effect I claim 1. A frame of the character described, comprising spaced connected vertical and horizontal bars, the bars running in one direction being fixed on either side of the bars running in the other direction, and tappets fixed between the members of the double-bars.
2. A frame of the character described, comprising spaced connected vertical and horizontal bars, the bars running in one direction being fixed on either side of the bars running in the other direction, and tap Jets fixed between the members of the dou le-bars, and outside bars of T and U sections, the ends of the double-bars being fixed to the bars of T-section and the other bars being fixed to the bars of U-section.
3. A frameof the character described, comprising spaced connected vertical and horizontal bars, the bars running in one direction being fixed on either side of the bars running in the other direction, and tappets fixed between the members of the double-bars, said tappets having working faces of cement steel.
