SUPPORT FOR DRINKING-CUP CABINETS.

To (ZZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, VILLARD E. SWIFT, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVorcester, in the county of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Invention Relating to a Support for a Drinking-Cup Cabinet, of which the following is a specification accompanied by drawings, forming a part of the same.

The device embodying my present invention is designed to support a drinking cup cabinet in convenient position at the side of an ice tank or water receptacle.

The object of my invention is to provide a device for this purpose which can be readily attached to tanks of different diameters and can be readily removed. I accomplish this object by the construction and arrange ment of parts as hereinafter described, the novel features being pointed out in the annexed claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents in perspective view a water fountain and ice tank having a drinking cup cabinet supported thereon by the device embodying my present invention. Fig. 2 is a detached plan view of the device for supporting the drinking cup cabinet. Fig. 3 is a detached side view of the same. F ig. 4 represents on an enlarged scale a portion of the device illustrating the locking and tightcning apparatus.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 denotes an ice tank inclosing a coil of pipe leading from a water receptacle 2 to a faucet 8, the whole being supported on a stand 4. Supported at one side of the ice tank 1 is a distributing cabinet or receptacle 5 for paper drinking cups, said cabinet being supported in convenient position at one side of the ice tank by means of the attaching device embodying my present invention.

The attaching device comprises a band or hoop 6, one end of the band 6 being attached to a loop 7 in which is swiveled a screw threaded bolt 8. The opposite end of the band 6 is passed through a loop 9 formed on one side of a bracket 10. This end of the band is looped upon itself in considerable length as shown at 11, Fig. 2, and the overlapping sections of the band are provided with alined holes 12, 12. a pair of these holes an eyelet 13, or other suitable means for connecting the band together, is passed. The object of forming a series of holes 12 in the band is to enable the length of the band to be varied, each variation in the length of the band being, of course, equal to the distance between the holes 12.

The bracket 10 extends upwardly and out wardly from the loop 9 and is provided at its upper end with an inclined bar 14 from which horns 15 and 16 project. The free ends of the horns 15 and 16 are provided with holes 1'? and 18 for the attachment of the cabinet 5. Upon the outer side of the bracket 10 is a slotted lug 19 adapted to receive the screw threaded bolt 8. Upon the end of the screw threaded bolt 8 is a tightening nut 20 bearing against one side of the lug 19. The contacting side of the lug 19 is provided with a concave recess 21 to re ceive the convex face 22 of the nut 20, in order that the tension exerted upon the bolt may lock the nut by its engagement with the recessed lug 19 and prevent the removal of the bolt from the open slot in the lug 19. The screw threaded bolt 8 enables the band 6, which has been made approximately equal in length to the periphery of the tank 1, to be drawn tightly around the tank and it also facilitates the removal of the band which is accomplished by simply loosening the nut 20 and swinging the bolt 8 out of the slot in the lug 19. The supporting horns 15 and 16 being placed in an inclined plane enable the cups to be conveniently drawn from the bottom of the cabinet.

I claim, 1

1. In a support for a cabinet for drinking cups, the combination with a bracket for supporting the cabinet, of a flexible band having one end attached to said bracket, a screw threaded bolt connected with the opposite end of the band, a slotted lug on said bracket adapted to receive said bolt, and a nut carried by said bolt and bearing against said lug.

2. A support for a cabinet for drinking cups, comprising a bracket, a flexible band attached at one end to said bracket, a screw threaded bolt attached to the opposite end of said band, a slotted lug projecting from the side of said bracket having its side recessed, and a nut engaging said bolt and fitting said recess.

3. A support for a cabinet for drinking cups, comprising a bracket, a band attached at one end to said bracket, a lug projecting laterally from one of said parts and having an open slot, and a connecting member carried by the other of said parts to enter the open slot, the connecting member having an enlarged head to'prevent separation of the bracket and the free end of the band.

4. A support for a cabinet for drinking cups, comprising a bracket, a band attached at one end to said bracket, a lug projecting laterally from one of said parts and having an open slot with a recess at the inner end of the slot, and a connecting member carried 15 by the other of said parts to enter the open slot, the connecting member having an enlarged head to engage the recess and prevent separation of the bracket and the free end of the band.
