FREDERICK RECHT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIG-NOR TO FLORENCE RECHT, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
WINDOW-CAME.
Specification of Iietters Patent.
Patented Apr. 7, 1914.
Application filed. June 19, 1912. Serial No. 704,694.
a metallic glazing bar which will have the desired strength with a minimum of weight.
Further objects are to produce a glazing bar of a form which can be drawn through a die and can readily be given irregular edges and a surface unevenness simulating the appearance of antique leads.
A further object is to provide a came in which cement can be retained to render the joints with the glass weather proof.
In the accompanying sheet of drawings which forms a part of this application F igure 1 is a perspective of a glazing bar or came lead formed in accordance with my invention, Fig. 2 is a section through a portion of a window in which the came is used for glazing, Fig. 3 is an elevation of a portion of the window with a corner of the glazing broken away.
The came consists of a heart it and caps e c. The caps at their middle lines join to and are integral with the heart. At their Copies of this patent may be obtained for edges the caps are thickened on the sides toward the glass, preferably by having bent over or inturned edges (2 e. Pockets are thereby left behind the thickened edges and between the caps and the glass in which cement d can be retained to render the oints weather proof. The bending over is preferably irregular and the pockets afford an opportunity for mechanically breaking down irregularly the faces of the caps to produce irregularity both of outline and surface.
In forming up a window the lights of glass will be joined and bounded by the cames as shown. The transverse cames are preferably carried through the points of juncture with the vertical cames and let into the sash at either end. Each of these is preferably provided with a steel reinforcing bar 0 which is laid next to the heart of the came.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
A came-lead consisting of caps and a heart integral with each cap along the middle line of its body, the edges of the caps being folded in upon themselves.
Signed by me at Brooklyn, N. Y., this 8th day of June, 1912.
