The object of this invention is to provide a valve for an internal combustion or explosive turbine which is adapted to convey the explosive gases from the receiver into the combustion chamber;
A further o hject is to provide a feed valve for internal combustion or explosive turbines in which the valve is provided with positive means for preventing any hack fires and consequently any explosion of the explosive mixture stored up in the receiver.
Referring to the drawing, wherein similar reference r lmerals indicate similar parts wherever used, the figure shown is a vertical central section taken through a valve, embodying our preferred construction.
Each of the valves comprises a casing 10. This casing is provided in its upper wall with a screwthreaded aperture adapted to receive the seat 14 for the valve body. Upon this I seat is a lower cylindrical extension or sleeve 16, which passes through the entire valve casing. This extension is provided with openings 17. A puppet valve 18, provided with a head 15, is placed so as to seatagainst "the part 14. The stem of the valve extends down through the cylindrical casing 16. Upon the stem of the valve 18, is a bellshaped member 19, adapted to slide inside the extension 16. This bell-shaped member is provided with openings 20, adapted to register with the openings 17 of the extension 16, when the valve head 15, is ofl of its seat 14. The valve rod is extended beyond vided with the usual spring 21. The valve rod is actuated in the uspal manner by a cam 1 carried by the shaft 2 of the turbme.

This is accomplished in the following manner. The bell-shaped member 19 forms with the extension 16, a slide valve. In case the valve head 15 is not tightly seated, the parts 16 and 19 are so arranged that the ports 17. between them are closed before the valve head v 15 seats. Should there be any back fire when the valve head 15 is slightly off of its seat, the gases will not return to the receiver, but will be stopped within the cylindrical extension.
When the cylinder of the engine is charging, the charge is taken in through the ports 17, at the time when the ports 20, register 7 therewith, upon the upward stroke of the puppet valve. A cock 22, is provided in the intake extension 11, which allows of the feed valve being cut oil from the source of supply.
What we claim as new and desire to secure by U. S. Letters Patent, is
A valve structure of the type set forth, comprising a valve casing having an inlet connection at one side thereof and a chamber at one end thereof, a valve seat threaded into the end of the casing adjacent said chamber, and having a coaxial sleeve integral there with and extending through the casing, the gas admission openings through which the gas passes directly from ,t-he inlet connection. a valve body coacting' with said seat, a rod carrying the valve body and extending axially through and beyond? the sleeveand the casing, and a cup-shaped member fixed on the rod and movable therewith, said member having a diameter which corresponds to the internal diameter of the sleeve and having openings adapted to i eg.- ister withjsaid first named openings in the open position of said valve body, and.bei ng so disposed as to pass wholly out of gpgistry with said openings before tlievalvc'body, in its closing movement, comes up its seat.- In testimony whereof we have e'reunto set our hands in presence of two witnesses.
