ELECTRIC WATER-PURIFIER.
To all whom t may concern I y Be it known that I, Louis A. FITZER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of'Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electric Water- Puriers, of which the following is a specitication.
My object is to kill the bacteria and precipit-ate the solid matter in water, and my invention consists of the novel features herein shown, described and claimed.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of an electric water purifier embodying the principles of my invention, as seen looking in the direction indicated by the arrow 1 in Figs. 2 and 3. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on the line 2-2 of Figs. 1 and 3. Fig. 3 is a cross section on the line 3-3 of Figs. 1 and 2. Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional detail on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the rectangular box 1 is anged around its upper edge so that the cover 2 may be bolted in place. The boa-rd 3 fits in the bottom of the box l and has longitudinal parallel grooves 4 in its upper face. The inlet 5 leads to the bottom of one side of the box 1 and the outlet 6 leads from the top of the other side. A series of electric plates 7 are fixed upon the binding post 8 and spaced apart so as to t the alternate grooves 4, and the ends of said plates butt against the board 9 tting vertically in the end of the box 1, said binding post extending through the side of the box and said plates extending nearly to the other end of the box. A second series of electric plates 10 are fixed upgn the binding post 11 and spaced apart so as to t in the remaining grooves 4, and alternate with the rst series of plates 7, and the ends Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led March 15, 1913.
Patented Dec. 2, 1913.
serial No. 754,555.
olf said plates butt against the board 12 ittlng vertically in the other end of the box 1, said binding post extending through the side of the box. The board 13 fits upon the upper edges of the plates 7 and 10 and within the rim of the box 1 and the cap plate 14 is secured in place upon the board 13 and upon the rim of the box 1, thus forming a zig-zag passage from the inlet to the outlet, said passage being thinand wide, and as the water flows through this passage the electric currentflows crosswise of the stream of was ter from one series of plates to the other, and this operation will kill the bacteria and precipitate the solid matter. The electric plates are vertical and the inlet is at the bottom and the outlet at the top.
I claim:
An electric water purifier comprising a rectangular metal box open at the top and flanged around its upper edge, a board f1tyting in the bottom of the box and having longitudinal parallel grooves, an inlet at the bottom of one side of the box, an outlet at the top of the other side of the box, boards fitting vertically in the ends of the box, a series of electric plates fitting against one end board and in alternate grooves in the bottom board, a conducting rod connecting the plates, a second series of electric plates litting against the other end board and in the other alternate grooves in the bottom board, a second conducting rod connecting the sec* ond series of plates, a board fitting within the rim of the box upon the upper edges of the electric plates and a cover bolted to said flange.
