To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J OSEPH ANTONIO GUARINO, a citizen of the United States, residing at Westerly, in the county of Washington and State of Rhode Island, have in vented new and useful Improvements in Guns, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates more particularly to the class of guard trigger boxes for firearms.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character in which the trigger or triggers of a firearm when moved from operative position may be concealed so as to avoid the accidental working of the triggers and thereby causing a premature discharge or firing of the gun.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a gun attachment which can be readily swung to closed or open position and when in closed position will conceal the trigger or triggers to avoid the premature firing of the gun and thus preventthepossibility of accidents therefrom and when the attachment is in open position the gun can be fired in the usual well-known manner.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a gun attachment which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eflicient in its purpose, and in expensive in manufacture.

Vith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevation of a gun showing the attachment in position for concealing the trigger of the said gun. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the attachment in open position to permit the gun to be fired as usual. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary vertical longitudinal sectional view through the gun and attachment, the latter being in the position shown in Fig. 1.

Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.

Referring tothe drawing by numerals, 5 designates the stock of a gun of any'ordinary well-known construction, 6 the breech,

7 a portion of the barrel, 8 the trigger guard, and 9 the trigger which is pivoted at 10 so that the same can be swung forwardly and upwardly from operative position into the breech 6 for the concealing of the same when the gun is being carried in the hand, the concealing of the trigger 9 being efiected in a manner presently described.

Mounted upon the breech 6 at the rear end of the guard and working within the latter is a concavecl box-like body 10 provided at its rear end with a pintle sleeve 11 through which is passed a pintle 12, the same being also passed through a pintle sleeve 13 formed on a leaf hinge section 1 1 which is suitably fixed to the breech, whereby the said box-like body 10 can be swung forwardly and upwardly into the posit-ion shown in Fig. 1, or swung downwardly and rearwardly to the position shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing.

On the swinging of the box-like body 10 forwardly and upwardly after the trigger 9 has also been swung forwardly and upwardly within the breech the said body 10 is engaged with a catch 15 which locks it in closed position so as to conceal the trigger and prevent the same from swinging to operative position, and in this manner it will be impossible for the trigger to be actuated and thereby obviate the premature or accidental discharge of the gun. The box-like body 10 when closed can be manually released and swung to open position so that the trigger .can be operated for the firing of the gun in the usual well-known manner.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of operation of the device will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
