, citizen of the United States, residing at Cin- Holders, of which the following is a specifi- 7 cin'nati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cigar-Display tlvely difierent angles, with separate lids to provide access thereto.

Another object is to provide such a holder in' which a compartment for a humidifier is provided.

Another object is to provide means to indicate which lid is lifted.

My invention also comprises certain details ,of form, combination and arrangement, all of which will be set forth in the description of the accompanying drawings, in which:

The accompanying drawings represent the preferred embodiment of my invention in which A represents a base supporting a frame work B of sheet metal arranged to receive glass panels D in the sides and front end, through which the cigar boxes and their labels are disclosed. The frame work Bis so arranged as to hold one of the cigar boxes E in a horizontal position and to hold the other cigar box F above and in rear of the box E andat an angle thereto, so as to display the contents of both boxes to advantage and at the same time. This arrangement of the frame and cigar boxes also provides a triangular space or compartment 2 within the frame or holder and between the adjacent faces of the cigar boxes. This space is utilized to contain a humidifier 3', which as illustrated consists of a porous unglazed tile of triangular cross section and extending nearly across the holder, and cm pable of absorbing a large quantity of water which is given ofi as a vapor by the extensive surface exposed to keep the atmosphere within the holder uniformly moist.

A Sheet metal. tray- 4 is provided for the humidifier to rest upon.

The arrangement of the frame and boxes is such that separate lids 5 and 6 hinged. at a common axis serve to cover the respective cigar boxes, said lids being so arranged that only one can be opened at a time by reason of one interfering with the movements of the other. Said lids are provided with glass panels 7 and 8 to expose the contents of the boxes to View. Said lids are preferably hinged together upon a hinge rod 9 which is supported at opposite ends in ears 10 attached to the Sides of the frame.

In order to support the box F in the de sired position, I provide guides 11- and 12 along one side and the rear face of the frame of the triangular space 2, I provide a gong 17 and a pivotally supported strikin lever 18 having a striker 19 at one end tiereof. At the opposite end the striking lever is shaped into a pawl 20 which engages a curved or segmental bracket 21 attached to one or other of the lids 5 and 6, so as to be engaged by a tooth 22 carried by said segmental bracket to cause the gong to sound whenever the lid carrying said segn'iental bracket is opened. In practice it customary to have cigars of different price and grade in the respective cigar boxes, and it frequently ha means that the customer opens one of the li s and helps himself to cigars while the store keeper is otherwise engaged. The sounding of the ong notifies the store keeper that the lid a ove the high priced cigars has been opened, and warns him to examine the goods taken or to collect for the high priced goods.

The. apparatus herein illustrated and described is capable of considerable modification without departing from the principle of my invention.

Having described my invention, what i claim 1s:

1. A clgar box holder comprising a frame having a compartment to hold a cigar box in a substantially horizontal position and a compartment at one side thereof to hold a ci 'ar box at an angle to said first box, and ii s hinged to said frame over said respective boxes and opening toward each other.

2. A cigar box holder comprising a frame with transparent panels having a compartment to hold a cigar box in a substantially horizontal position and a compartment at one side thereof to hold a cigar box at an angle to said first box With a triangular adjacent faces of said respective boxes, lids with transparent panels hinged back to back to said frame to give access to and expose the contents of said boxes to View.

4. A cigar box holder comprising a frame having a compartment to hold a cigar box in a substantially horizontal position, a compartment at one side thereof tohold a cigar box at an angle to said first box, a triangular compartment to contain a humidor formed between adjacent faces of said respective boxes, lids with transparent panels hinged back to back to said frame to give access to and expose the contents of said-boxes to view, an alarm and means actuated when One of said lids is opened to sound said alarm.

A cigar box holder comprising a frame with transparent side panels having a compartment to hold a cigar box in a substantially horizontal position, a compartment at one side thereof to hold a cigar box at an angle to said first box, lidswith transparent panels hinged to said frame back to back upon a common axis to give access to and expose the contents of said boxes to view.

6. A cigar box holder comprising a frame having compartment to hold a cigar box in a substantially horizontal position and a compartment at one side thereof to hold a cigar box at an angle to said first box, a recess in the wall of said frame through which the cover of one of said cigar boxes projects to display the label on the inner face of said cover, and lids hinged back to back to said frame to fit over said respective cigar boxes In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
