To all whom "it may concern Be it known that I, Ronnu'r E. MILLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pecos, in the county of Reeves, State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cigar lip Cutters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invent-ion relates to cigar clippers and has for an object to provide a match box having a cigar clipper arranged on one edge, the clipper being preferably formed of pivoted cutting blades, one of the blades being pivoted to the casing and the other blade being pivoted to the casing through the instrumcntality of a rocking link, this construction permitting of the cigar clipper folding compactly along the edge of the cigar box when not in use.

With the above objects in View the invention consists in certain novel details of construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be made in the minor details of construction within the scope of the appended claim.

In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification :-Figure 1 is an end elevation of the match box showing the cigar clipper in released position. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the match box showing the cigar clipper in operative position.

Referring now to the drawings in which like characters of reference designate similar parts, 10 designates a match box.

In match boxes it is especially desirable that a collapsible cigar clipper be assembled with the box, and to attain this end I flatten one edge of the match box wall to form a substantially flat bearing 17 and upon this hearing, a cutting blade 18 is pivoted at one end as shown at 15). To the free end of the blade a second cutting blade 20 is pivoted as shown at 21, and upon the confronting edges of both blades are formed curved notches 2:2 which act when the blades are operated as will presently be described to clip the end of a cigar. Pivoted to the free end of the blade 20 is a rocking link 23, this link being pivoted in turn to the hearing as shown at 24. When it is desired to clip a cigar, the mutually pivoted ends of the blades 18 and 20 are manually moved laterally, this movement of the parts causing the blades to move from each other and outwardly beyond the side of the match box as clearly shown in Fig. 2. The cigar end is now inserted in the notches of the blades, and the blades returned to their initial position, the cigar being clipped during this returning movement of the blades, and it will be noted that the blades when in released position collapse upon the bearing and present no edges be yond the sides of the match box to catch in the clothing.

That is claimed, is

The combination with a support of a cutting blade pivoted at one end thereto and having a cutting notch in one edge, a second cutting blade pivoted to the free end portion of the first named blade and having a cutting notch disposed in cooperative relation to the first named notch, and a link pivoted to the free end of the second named blade and to the support and proportioned to permit of alinement of the blades and links with the support.
