To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRED L. DOEBLIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rush Hill, in the county of Audrain and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supports for Bridge-Planks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to supporting brackets for bridge planks which are ordinarily carried by threshing machines and the objects of the same are to provide a device of the above mentioned character which is durable and one which is constructed of but a few parts whereby it may be easily manufactured and one which can be readily attached to or detached from a threshing machine when occasion requires.

lVith the above and other objects in view, this invention relates to such details of con struction and in the arrangement and combination of the several parts as will be hereinafter fully described and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing my invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views and in which,

In the accompanying drawings wherein is illustrated the preferred form of my invention, the numeral 1 designates the body portion thereof which is provided at its rear end with a plate 2 which plate is adapted to be secured to the machine through the me-.

dium of the bolts 3 as shown. The forward end of the body portion is constricted as shown at 4 and has pivotally secured thereto by means shown at 5, members 6 and 7 the said members having their forward ends bent upwardly as shown at 8 and 9, the said upturned portions being parallel with each other as shown. A plank 10 is secured between the members 6 and 7 by the bolt 11 for the purpose of spacing the same from each other.

It is readily obvious that when a bridge plank such for instance as shown at 12 is carried by the upturned portions 9 of the members 6 and 7, that a great deal of the strain will be exerted upon the upturned portion 8 and to obviate the danger of the same breaking, the brace rod 13 is provided which has one end secured to the bent portion 8 as shown at 14 and the other end secured to the member 6 as shown at 15. It is readily obvious that after the plank has been removed from the brackets, that the.

same can be swung upon the bolt 5 so that they are entirely out of the way.

I desire to lay the greatest stress upon the simplicity of this invention and it is thought that the advantages and novel features of the same will be readily appreciated from the foregoing disclosure.

I desire it to be understood that I may make slight changes in the construction and in the arrangement and combination of the several parts, provided such changes fall within the scope of the sub-joined claims.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a device of the character described, a body portion having a plate secured at its rear end, means for securing said plate to the supporting structure, the forward end of said body portion being constricted, a member pivotally secured to the upper side of said constricted portion, a member pivotally secured to the under side of said constricted portion, said members extending from said constricted portion in a horizontal plane, the outer ends of said members bent upwardly in a vertical position and a plank secured between the horizontal portion of said members for the purpose described.

In a device of the character described, a body portion having a plate secured at its rear end, means for securing said plate to the supporting structure, the forward end of said body portion being constricted, members pivotally secured to the upper and lower sides of said constricted portion, the forward ends of said members bent .in a vertical position and spaced from each other, a block secured between the horizontal portion of said members and a brace rod connecting the upper end of one of' said bent portions and the body portion of said members for the purpose described.
