UNITED STATES PATENT oFFIoE.
ALEXANDER SOLI'IANO, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
EMERGENCY-TROUSE RS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Y '0 all whom it may concern:
' :Be it known that l, ALEXANDER Som'raxo, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Emergency-Trousers, of which the following is a specification-J This invention relates to trousers. or pantaloons having attached feet, the trousers being adapted for use in cases of emergency quickly leave One of the objects of the invention is to provide trousers'whcrein one leg and one foot is constructed of a single piece of. cloth,
trousers, or trousers, wherein each leg and half body portion is provided with only one seam and that, an inner seam, and one in represents a pattern orform for cutting the improved trousers. Fi 2 is a plan view of which the same piece of cloth formingone of the legs andone half of the body is also elriployed to form the foot portion.
nother object of the invention is the provision of an ext-remely'simple manner of delineating the outlines ofthe surface ofthe cloth necessary to provide :1 leg of the trousers and the elimination of all unnecessary detailwork whereby a pair of trousers a material saving of the cloth.
In the accompanying drawingsF-igure 1 may be easily and qulckly constructed with one ofthe legs and oot of the trousers. Figs. 3, 4 and 5 are perspective views showing the trousers complete.
One of the primary objects of the present invention is to-provide trousers integrally formed with foot orshoe portions, the same adapted to retain a shape so that a gentleman being called unexpectedly from his bed may quickly don the trousers and appear in public without embarrassment.
It is Well known that different structures of garments provided with feet have already been introduced upon themarket, but
in a majority of these cases thegarments are employed for protecting the nether limbs of infants. In other cases the garments are constructed for underwear and overalls, in which stylish form and fit are of no great account, and are only roughly estimated when the garment is constructed.
In constructing the trousers in accordance with the present invention, a pattern or form is employed. The form is'so shaped the legs is determined" pm the lower pp that, if desired, a large number of the por tions of the garments comprising the halves, may be cut at one time. course, is employed when a large number of a single size of trousers are to be constructed.v
The person tobe fitted having beenduly measured in the usual manner, there is Patented Mar. 4, 1913.
Application filed June 16. 1910. Serial No. 567,229;
This method, of I 1 drafted a ,single pattern designated by the numeral 1, the same being prepared from the given personal measurements laid ofi thereon substantially in the well known manner, The pattern 1 is provided withva median line 2 which extends the entire longitudinal length. of the attern. This .line 2 intersects approximately the central'port-ion of the bottom of the foot 3 which, is formed upon the. oods-to be cut. i.
The length of the bottom of the trousers is determined and indicated by the lineH, and the sco e of the instep or that portion connecting he heel of the foot bottom 3z-by the lines 4--5. The len h of the halves of ,tions thereof to the crotch point 6. T ese points (ifi'are determined from the measurement of the thigh, the said measurement heinlghindic'ated upon the attern by the line seaming edgeslo the legs from'the points 4 to 6 gradiently increase in proportion from the points 4 to the said points 6- so as to agree-with the shape of the leg of therperson for whom the trousers are made.
e scalloped excisions between thepoints 4 and 5 are duplicated between'points 5 and 8, so that the cut away portionsbetween the said points 4, 8 and 5 are substantially arcuate. The length of the foot bottom is determined between the points 9Iand 10, the shape of the toe or front portion of the foot being also determined and the pattern is cut correspondingly. The width of the foot at' the ball thereof is indicated by the line 11 and the portion of the pattern for the top of the foot which is indicated by the numeral 12 is cut correspondingly as clearly shown in Fig.1 of the drawings.
The one-half measurement; ofthe waistis indicated upon the waistbandas designatedby the line 13, and the said waistband is formed with an extension 14, the latter being adapted to serve as a flap for a purpose which will be fully set forth .when a doscription of the com lete garmentisgiven. The front and rear 0 the halves oithebofly bet-ween the-crotch points 6 and online 13 is indicated by measurements so that the front and the rear 16 are readily determined; The front 15 ".directly above they crotch point is formed with tabs 17 and -17.
When the' pattern ishcompleted as above described, the same is positioned upon both I of the pieces of cloth which are to make tel up onepair of complete trousers of a mess; urement thus determined. Thedelineztting .10 1
cloth out accordingly. The seaming edges marks are scribed uponthe'clot-h, and the of each half of the trousers are sewed to- 'gether. The top 12 of the foot is folded over the bottom 3 and its edges sewedthereto. The edges 4, 5 and 8 upon the front of the trousers a're' sewed together so that, ex-
Lable separable fastenerap lit/formed vided with the remaining "portion, The flaps 14 are cep ting ;for the body half of the section, one
of theileg sections and, foot therefor is completed. The rear z front of each of the halves sewed toh'er,;excepting for a space left upon one of the halves forthe reception of the tab uponfthe opposite half, the tab 17 being turned back upon the rear surface of: its respective body portion and sewed compltedjit will be noted that the elastic band 18 will Ireadily expand to allow the ownertoput'on the trousers'when desired. It willbe also noted that thetrousers may be easily and quickly removed without neof one'of the halves is- -sewed to the rear of the opposite half and ,3,-
e first named.

cessitating the use ofbuttons or analogous securing devices.
If desired, and in some instances it has been found preferable, the foot bottom 3 may be formed with a sole of leather, designated by the numeral 19, and illustrated in Figs. 3, 4 and 5 of the drawings. This sole 19 is stitched along the edges of the foot bottom 3 and the same materially aids in prolonging the life of the foot of the trousers. This sole is not, however, an essential feature of the device and may be dispensed with if desired.
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new, is
The trousers hereinbefore described, (3,0111; prising identically formed sections, each of said sections embodying a leg portion and a foot portion, the said-'foot portion and 1e portion being interconnected by areduoe portion of the material, the bottom of the said foot portion being arranged at one side of the longitudinal medial line of'the sections and having a top. portion forming saidfoot and leg sections, said leg and foot of the longitudinal medial line of the'com-' plete section whereby in the sewing of the garment one portion of thecomplete section may remain stationary relative'to the other \sertion, said stationary portion .forming the back and bottom of the trouser leg and foot SCClZlQHTBSpQCtlVQlY.
