EMMA L. TRIGG, OF NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.
SHOULDER-BRACE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMMA L. TRIGG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nashville, in the county of Davidson and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoulder-Braces, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in shoulder braces and more particularly to that class which can be adj usted to suit any size person and has for its object to provide a device of this character which will possess advantages in points of etliciency, durability, is inexpensive of manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved brace; and Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view taken through one of the buckles to illustrate the connection between the shoulder straps and the shoulder.
Referring more particularly to the draw ings 1 indicates the shoulder loops, which are adapted to pass around the shoulders of the wearer, and across the back a short distance and have their free ends secured to the pentagon-shaped holder 2. These loops are to be made of elastic webbing or any other pliable material desired and can be adjusted to various sizes by means of the buckles 3 of the ordinary construction.
Secured to the lower side of the holder 2 is a vertically depending elastic back-stray 4, which latter has a belt 5 secured to its lower end adapted to pass around the waist of the Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 17, 1911.
Patented Jan. 14, 1913. Serial No. 644,574.
wearer and its ends secured together by means of the buckle 6 secured to one of the free ends of the belt, said back strap being provided with an adjusting buckle 3.
From the foregoing it will be seen that a shoulder brace constructed in accordance with my invention provides great freedom of movement for the wearer and is simple in construction and inexpensive of manufacture.
l/Vhile I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, it will be ing loops and their opposite ends being adjust-ably connected with the next adjacent sides of the frame below the upper sides thereof to which the opposite ends are connected, a Waist belt, a vertically extending back strap permanently secured at one end to the said belt and the upper end of said back strap being adjustably connected to the lower side of the frame substantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses. EMMA L. TRIGG. Witnesses:
Gno. P. DE TEMPLE, JAMES H. PLATZ.
