The base or stem, t, ofV the handle C, may, in this case, be cast on it. The -handle properv may be of wood, as indicated, or may be .ca st with its stem t.

"The said stem tis inclined upward, as shown, to accommodate the hand of the operator. i l

. The knives may'beparallel with the handle, when in position, as represented, or at right angles, or inclined relatively thereto.

`The form of the blades of theknives is not essential. They are, preferably, made straight, o withY rounded ends, to adapt them to make either a drawing or chopping cut. They may be adjustable, as to distance apart, by any'ad'equate means.

The stock B being in form of a frame, as described, y

Operation.

My deviceis, primarily7 intended to take the place of' the pounder, the puller, the picker, the'roller with jagged points, and the single knife, for tendering fneat preparatory to cooking. vIts advantages over those devices are multiplied efticieney, without any comparative increase in first cost, ease of operation, and

facility for sharpening. It may operate for the said purpose by being simply drawn across the meat one or more times. I

`The device is also 4valuable as a chopper, for preparing meatfor hash,-s,ansage, mincemeat, &c.
