To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I,WILLIAM L. MEREDITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Searsboro, in the county of Poweshiek and State of Iowa, have invented new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to game apparatus, and has for an object to provide an amusing device of this character which will. include a stationary indicator, a top, and a pointer carried by the top and cooperating with the indicator so as to determine the play value of the operator.

Another object of the invention is to provide a game-board wherein will be included a novel tally structure, whereby the score of each player can be individually accurately and readily kept.

In the drawing, forming a portion of this specification and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views: Figure 1 is a plan view of the apparatus. Fig. 2 is a section therethrough on line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1.

My improved game apparatus comprises a game-board 1 which may be of any suitable configuration best adapted for the occasion, but as illustrated, it is provided with individual branch tally portions 2 for the players and a central main supporting portion 3 for the indicator 4-. The indicator 4 preferably comprises a metallic platform which is formed with a central opening 5 and a lower step bearing 6. The indicator is divided into radial substantially sector like divisions 7, each being distinguished from the adjacent sector by a suit-able number. These numbers are arranged in a circular series, being disposed concentric with respect to the opening 5 and arranged directly in the path of movement of the pointer 8 on the top 9. This top is provided with a lower point 10 and an upwardly extending actuating shank 11, the former being ex tended through the opening 5 and operatively supported in the step bearing 6 so that the top will revolve horizontally on the platform when the shank 11 is actuated by the hand of the player.

Each tally portion 2 comprises companion rows of vertical elastic strips 12 which may be constructed of paper, felt or other suitable material which may be readily pierced by the score pins 13. The score pins 13 are adapted to be supported by the elastic strips 12 and to be moved outwardly in number equal to that indicated by the points 8 for the purpose of keeping the score of the players.

In operation of the apparatus, takes his position at one of the branch portions 2 of the game-board, and in turn the players spin the top. When the topstops the pointer 8 will fall upon one of the num bers in the sector like divisions on the platform 4 and accordingly the player makes the score. On the initial starting of the game the score pins 13 are pushed forwardly into the strips 12 so that their points protrude and the heads 14 of the pins bear against the adjacent strips. When the player determines the value of his play, after spinning the top, the pins equal in number to the number indicated by the pointer 8 are moved outwardly to the positions shown at the upper left hand corner in Fig. 1 of the drawing. This operation is repeated in the respective turns of the players and the player who first succeeds in moving all of his pins to their score determining positions is decided the winner of the game. At the right hand corner of each tally portion 2, the game-board is provided with an opening or socket 15 and re movably fitted therein is the shank 16 of a manipulating element 17 which may be used by the player in moving the pins 13 from one position to another.

The game described herein while being designed for the purpose of furnishing con siderable amusement to its players has also been found to be most instructive when used particularly by children in that it is necessary for the child to accurately count the each player scribed.
