CLAMP FOR CONCRETE-FORMS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, An'rnnn II. SYMONS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Wyandottc and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clamps for Concrete-Forms; and I'do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a partof this specification.
My invention relates to a clamp for concrete forms and more particularly to a device for supporting and holding together a form for molding girders in the construction of a concrete building.
It is the principal object of my invention to provide a device of this character which will act as a hanger as well a clamp and will serve to support the girder form, so that the usual intermediate and temporary supports for such forms need not be used. In accomplishing this object I have provided the improved details of structure which will presently be fully described and are illus trated in the accompanying drawings, wherein.:-
Figure I is a perspective view of a clamp constructed according to my invention; Fig. II is a perspective view of a girder form equipped with one of the clamps. Fig. III is a detail view of a tightening tool used with the clamp.
Referring more in detail to the parts 1 designates hanger members which are preferably formed of stiff strap metal and are provided at their upper ends with inturned ears 2, the latter being preferably formed of cast metal and riveted to the ends of the hangers. The lower ends of the hanger members are provided with apertures 3 for receiving the pins 4.
5 designates a base bar which is referably formed of two pieces 6,'of sti strap metal, spaced at their central portion by a bar 7 to provide the end slots 8, and having registering apertures 6 in their free ends. The bar 7 is preferably slightly less in I length than the width of an ordinary girder form, so that when the device is in use the hanger bars 1 may project through the end .slots 8 and be tightened against the form,

without being limited by the spacer. Pivotally connected with the hanger bars, near their upper ends are the levers9cb'fiiprising the bell cranked bars 10 which overlie the hanger bars and are connected therewith by the pins 11. Pivotally connected with the levers 9, near their connectionwith the hanger bars, by the pins 13, are the arms 14 which are adapted for-projection between the base members (3 and are provided with the apertures 15.
l6 designates yokes which are pivotally connected with the arms 14 by means of pins 17 which extend through the yoke arms and through apertures 15 in the lever arms, each of the yokes being constructed to provide a space 18 through which the ends of the base 5 may move freely under certain conditions,
Under other conditions, the heads 19 of said yokes may be turned to bring their edges into clamping contact with the lower edges of the base members, so that the yokes will hold against the arms to enable the clamp to be set, as will presently be described.

In the upper edge of the top boards of the girder form are notches 23, which are adapted for receiving the clamp ears 2, as illustrated in Fig. II; there being a desired number of said notches throughout the length of the girder for accommodating any suflicient number of clamps to properly support the girder form and the material which is poured thereinto.

In using my device, the girder form is' fixed to the columns and the clamps hung from the upper forum members, as illustrated in Fig. II. To set the clamps, it is preferable to first suspend the hanger bars from the form notcl es and move the base bar into position thereover, the pins 4 being projected through apertures in thelower ends of'the hanger bars when the base has been moved tightly. against the bottom of the form, so
as to hold the parts together and support the base. The,hangerbars are then moved close again atthe sides of the form and plns 4' projected through apertures 6 in he ends of the base, so as to hold the hanger bars in place. The yokes 16 are thenfitted over-the ends of the base and inwardly to aboutthe angle shown, so that the edge of the yoke head will bite against the under edge of the base. When the parts are so arranged,- the levers 9 will be-in their. released position (dotted lines Fig. I). Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein and by Letters-Patent is 1.
