ALONZO A. WARNER, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO I| ANDERS,ERARY & CLARK, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, A CORPORATION OF CONNECTICUT.
BRACKET.
Application filed June 9, 1911.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALoNzo A. WARNER, a citizen of the United States, and resident of New Britain, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to produce a device of the character described having features of novelty and advantage and more particularly to produce a novel connection with the bracket arm to the bracket base.
In the drawings: Figure l is a side elevation of a bracket made in accordance With my invention, the base being shown in central vertical position. Fig. 2 is a back view of bracket made in accordance with my invention.
Referring to the drawings: The device comprises a base at having a central boss I). The base has three apertures in alinement, one 0 being in the boss and the others c0 on either side thereof in the marginal rim. The bracket arm cl may be of any form but is provided with tangs eee to fit the apertures in the base. The ends of these tangs are preferably riveted over to firmly secure the bracket arm to the base.
The essential feature of this invention resides in the arrangement of the points of at tachment of the arm to the base, the central point of attachment being out of the plane of the end points of attachment, thus, producing a brace to support and counteract lateral strains on the bracket arm.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 6, 1912.
Serial No. 632,229.
In accordance with my invention there should be at least three points ofattachment of the arm with the base and one of these should be oifset from the plane of the other two. The shape of the base or the arm, except as to the features last above specified, is not material to my invention.
I claim as my invention:
1. A device of the character described comprising a base and a bracket arm, three or more points of attachment of said arm to said base, said points of attachment being in alinement when seen from the front of said base, one of said points of attachment being out of alinement with at least two of Elie others when seen from the edge of the ass.
2. A device of the character described comprising a base, a boss offset from the plane of the base, alined apertures in the boss and the marginal rim, and a bracket arm provided with tangs adapted to fit in said apertures.
3. A device of the character described comprising a base, a bracket arm secured thereto at three or more points, and means for bracing said arm against side strain which consists in offsetting one point of attachment from at least two of the other points of attachment.
