Specification of Letters Patent.-
i erases,
useful Combination-Garment, of which the 1 following is a specification.
This invention is a combination garment, which, in its preferred complete form, embodies a hood, coat or jacket, pantaloons, with a skirt, and other members, all of which are integral, though it will be understood that certain parts of the garment may be used separately from the other parts.
The object is to produce a garment, particularly for street wear and for use in cold weather, which can be quickly applied to the wearer and which is serviceable and attractive as well as one possessing marked superiority for the purposes intended.
While it is especially intended as a garment for children of both sexes, it is adapted, also, for use by adults and, particularly, for users of automobiles or others exposed to cold or inclement weather.
It will be understood that various materials may be used in making the garment, dependent upon the purpose for which it is to be used, or the personal tastes of the wearer. v
In the accompanying drawings, I have illustrated a practical'embodiment of the invention, but the construction shown therein is to be understood as illustrative, only,
and not as defining the limits of the invention.
Figure 1 is a front view of the garment with certain parts shown in their open posi- 40 tion'; Fig. 2 isa partial section of one of the sleeves showing a mitten attached thereto, the latter being extended downwardly in position for use; Fig. 3 is a similar section to that shown in Fig.2, but with the mitten folded into the position which it normally occupies when not in use.
Referring particularly to Figs. 1, 2, and- 3, A designates the complete garment, as adapted particularly for use by girls and women, and composed of the hood, a, having a cape extension, I), and fastening cord, 0. The coat or body portionof the garment, ei, which resembles a waist, is attached to and forms an extension of the hood at the neck line thereof, and the pantaloons, e,

form'a continuation of the coat; the legs of which, f, arepreferably provided at their bottoms with shoe coveringsor top'shoes, 9, having straps or elasti'cs, g adapte'd'to embrace the shank of the shoe, whereby the top shoes are held in place.
At'the lower ends of the sleeves, h, of the coat;are preferably attached, at one side of the sleeve, suitable hand coverings, such as mittens or glooves, 2', the said sleeves being provided with a band, 9', secured thereto on the opposite side to which the mittens are attached, and being left free at their opposing sides, so'that. when it is not desired to use the mittens they may be folded within the band and retained in position as shown in Fig. 3.
Attached to the'coat, d, at or near the waist linethereof is a skirt, is, preferably made so as to be closed front and back and adapted to befastened near the side, by suitable fastening means, such as hooks and eyes, as shown in Fig. 1. This skirt is provided in its preferred form, with an opening, on one side thereof, which opening not only adds to the style and artistic appearance of the garment, but permits the skirt to hang more gracefully and conform better to the wearer than it otherwise would.
In the form of the garment shown in Fig. 1, the pantaloons are provided with slits or openings, m, n, in the front and back thereof, respectively, and it will be understood that these openings, as Well as the coat and top shoes may be closed, or properly secured by fastening devices,'such as ball and socket fasteners, as shown in said Fig. 1.
It will be manifest that the garment described may be modified as to details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention, and that it may 'be decorated or, trimmed to suit the particular wearer or the use for which it is intended.
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A combination garment comprising a body portion and a-pantaloons portion unitary with said body portion, said garment being provided at the front of the pantaloons portion with 4 a vertically extending opening and at the rear of the pantaloons with another vertically extending opening, a skirt secured to the body portion and positioned to conceal a part of the vertically extending opening in'the front of the panta- :loons portion and concealing also the vertically extending opening in the rear of the pantaloons portion, and a hood unitary with 5 the body portion at the neck thereof. 2. A combination garment comprising a body portion and a pantaloons portion unitary with said body portion, said garment 'being providedat its ront withan opening 10 which extends vertically through the body portion and throu h the pantaloons portion,
. and at its rear wlth a vertically extending opening in the pantaloons portion thereof, and a skirt attached to the body portion and name to'this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
