FLY-PAPER HOLDER.

oner, in the county of Wagoner and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in fly paper holders.

One object of the invention is to provide a fly paper holder having an improved construction and arrangement of cover and means for fastening thesame in position to hold the paper in place and to prevent objects from coming into contact with the paper but which will not prevent flies or other insects from readily reaching the paper. 7

'With this and other objects in view, the

invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

In the accompanying drawings :-Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved fly paper holder; Fig. 2 is a'central vertical longitudinal sectional view thereof, showing in dotted lines the open position of the holder; Fig. 3 is a central vertical transverse sectional view thereof; Fig. 4: is a detail perspective view of the catch for fastening the cover in closed or operative position, Fig. 5 is a fragmentary view'of a portion of the base and cover showing one of the hinge connections between these parts.

In the embodiment of the invention I provide a base member 1 which is preferably constructed of sheet metal and in the form of an inverted shallow pan the size of which is slightly larger than an ordinary sheet of fly paper. The outer edge of the base 1 is reinforced by a binding rod or wire 2 around which the edge of the metal is turned. The sides and ends of the base are preferably formed on a gradual slant or incline as shown.

Arranged over the base 1 and hingedly connected thereto at one end is a wire cover and paper holding screen 3 said screen or cover comprising an outer frame 4 formed of heavy wire to which is connected the ends of crossed longitudinal and transversely disposed wires 5 and 6 forming the body of the screen or cover. The wires 5 and 6 are bent downwardly at their ends thus supporting the top portion of the screen or cover a suitable distance above the paper on the base 1.

The screen or cover 3 is hingedly connected at one end to the adjacent end of the base by links 7 which are engaged with the frame of the cover or screen and with the binding rod or wire 2 of the base. The opposite end of the screen or cover is fastened in closed position by means of a catch or fastening device 8 said device being formed from a wire rod bent upon itself to form an attaching eye or loop 9, a tongue 10 and a hook 11. The eye 9 is loosely engaged with the binding rod or wire 2 on this end of the base and when the cover or screen is in closed position the tongue and hook are adapted to be swung down into engagement with the end thereof. It will be noted that the outer longitudinal and cross wires are somewhat heavier I 'ings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.

Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention, as defined in the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is A fly paper holder comprising a base member, a wire screen cover arranged thereon, links to hingedly connect one end of the screen with the base, a catch to fasten the other end of the cover, said catch comprising a wire rod bent to form an attaching eye ment with said cover, a tongue formed on the other end of the rod, and a ring loosely connected to said screen cover and adapted to be engaged with said tongue whereby the latter is fastened to hold the hook in engagement with the cover.
