NEWSPAPER-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 10, 1911.
Application filed June 24, 1909. Serial No. 504,193.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE Vnnens,a subject of the Kin of Greece, residing at WVashington, in the istrict of Columbia; have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Newspaper-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My present invent-ion relates to improve ments in newspaper holders, this particular one being designed for use in holding large or small papers, and one which can be easily packed for shipment-by freight, express or mail, and is provided with means whereby the holder may be supported upon the hooks placed in reading rooms, barber-shops, and shoe shining parlors for supporting hats and coats.
To clearly illustrate my invention, attention is invited to the accompanying drawings, in. which Figure 1 is a plan view of my holder. Fig. 2 is a detail view of the securing means, and Fig. 3 is a detail View of the locking device for the binder.
Referring to the drawings :The numeral 25 designates the central rod, having the eye or loop 26, at one end and the handle 26, at the other end. Carried upon this rod intermediate of the ends, are the two sleeves or collars 27, each one of which is flattened or otherwise formed to provide sockets on 0pposite sides of and parallel with the central rod, for the reception of the ends 29, of the two frames 30 and 31, respectively. The set screws 32 lock these frames in the position, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The frame 30, is provided with the longitudinal slot 33, in the upper end of which is pivoted the wire rod or hinder 34, its lower end being locked in the slot by means of the rotatable collar or sleeve 35, which is provided with the vertical slot 36. As shown in Fig. 2 the handle 26, is threaded to the lower end of the vertical rod 25, thus allowing this holder to be completely knocked down, for shipping in a small package.
What I claim, as new, is
A newspaper holder, comprising a central vertical rod, two sleeves carried upon the rod, two frames having each two terminals fitted in said sleeves to form with the rod a rack, means for locking the frames against turning, and a paper binder carried by one of the frames.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
his GEORGE VERGES.
THouAs BRADLEY.
