Similarly on the upper end of said pin 6 is an inverted cup-like receptacle 8 having a plurality of orifices 9 the cup 8 being directly below the orifice 5.

Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED HENDRICKS, rcsiding at Lodi, in the county of San Joaquin, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil-Burners; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrip tion of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to. which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this application.
This invention relates to improvements in hydrocarbon burners the object of the invention being to produce an improved burner in which a low gravity oil can be used and in which the generating of the oil into gas will be attained to such an efficient degree as to do away with carbon or soot.
A further object of the invention is to produce a simple and inexpensive device and yet one which will be exceedingly effective for the purposes for which it is designed.
These objects, I accomplish by means of such structure and relative arrangement of parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claim.
In the drawings similar characters of references indicate corresponding parts in the several views.
Figure 1 is a front view of a stove showing my improved burner installed therein. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of my improved burner complete. Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on a line w-w of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the generator proper. Fig. 5 is a sectional view of an oil intake hood. Fig. 6 is a fragmentary view of an oil and water pipe combined.
Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings 1 designates a stove.
2 designates the lower base of my oil burner 10 in the form of a pan and has centrally located side members 3 carrying a removable lid or cap 4 and a central orifice 5. Disposed centrally through the member 2 and between the sides 3 is a bolt or pin 6 disposed around the lower end of which is a cup-like receptacle 7. Similarly on the upper end of said pin 6 is an inverted cup-like receptacle 8 having a plurality of orifices 9 the cup 8 being directly below the orifice 5. This burner structure is placed within the stove 1 and then an intake hood 10 having a plurality of recesses 11 at its inner edge is disposed from the orifice 5 and projects through the top of the stove 1 as shown in Fig. 1.
12 is an oil supply pipe leading from a suitable oil tank while 13 is a water tank having a pipe or hose 14 leading therefrom and having a pointed nipple 15 entering into the pipe 12, such pipe 12 having a similar pointed nipple 16 discharging through the hood l0 and thence through the orifice 5 to the cup 8.
The oil and water mixed in the pipe 12 as shown drops on to the cup 8 and passes through the plurality of orifices 9 which partially gasifies it and it then drops into the receptacle 7 which is heated by reason of the fire in the burner where the oil and water is further gasified or atomized and then the same passes out from between the sides 3 and burns off of the free ends of the member 2 shown plainly in Fig. 2. A suitable amount of air may be taken into the burner through the hood 10 or through the bottom recess 11 in the hood 10 and thence through the orifice 5 ti) the generator.
From the foregoing description it will readily appear that I have produced such a device as substantially fulfils the objects of the invention as set forth therein.
While this specification sets forth in detail the present and preferred construction of the device, still in practice such deviation from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described comprising the combination with a stove having a central orifice above the fire boX, of a burner pan comprising a bottom member having an upwardly projecting flange all around its contour, further projecting side members centrally located on each side of said pan, a centrally orificed removable lid on said side members, a central pin projecting upwardly from the said pan, a cup-like receptacle on the lower end of said pin, an inverted cup-like receptacle on the upper end of said pin, said inverted receptacle having a plurality of orifices, a hood disposed over the orifice in said lid and proj ecting through the orifice in said stove, said hood havinga plurality of recesses in its In testimony whereof I afiix my signature lower ledge,d an (ail fged piipe i(iliselnarging in presence of two Witnesses.
