Abstract

A method for determining the location of the object based on the fact that the sources of magnetic field in the form of coils with currents have equal area and do not overlap; said magnetic field sources are disposed in each of four different points of the object in such a manner that said points are located on two mutually orthogonal lines at a fixed distance from the intersection point of said lines and symmetrically with respect to said point of intersection; with choosing the location of one point in space outside the object and a specified point in a vector magnetometer; activating one of said magnetic field sources and recorded values ​​of magnetic induction at the selected point; the procedure is repeated for each of four of said magnetic field sources. The fixed distance between the location of these sources is several times smaller than the distance to the point of location of vector magnetometer; in pairs the sources of the magnetic field are activated by gradient scheme, with recording the value of five independent spatial derivatives of the magnetic induction vector of the first order at the chosen point in space, and the resulting value is determined by the value of the direction to the object; simultaneously all the four sources of magnetic field are activated, the value of magnetic induction vector in the chosen point in space is recorded, and by the value obtained the distance to the object is determined.
