Abstract

The invention relates to the medicine, in particular to NMR tomography and the use of 1,4,7,10-tetraaza-2,6-pyridinofane [12]-1,4,7-triacetate of gadolinium as the contrast agent for opacification in NMR tomography. The contrast agents are the substances used in the imaging diagnostic techniques for increasing the contrast between the normal and pathologic tissue with the aim of assessing the functional state of the organs. The NMR tomography becomes the most effective diagnostic technique due to the numerous advantages including the absence of the exposure to X-ray (in contrast to that in X-ray tomography) and the high sensitivity. The use of the contrast agents possessing the paramagnetic properties extends largely the diagnostic value of NMR tomography.
